The article attempts to create an initial typology of Polish prayer-books, popular especially in the 19th century, that had one common title The Golden Altar, or different variations of this title, like The Little Golden Altar, The Everyday Altar, The Polish Altar, The Roman-Catholic Altar. The research that has been conducted up till now, taking into consideration the place of publication and similarity of the contents, allows distinguishing the following groups of editions of this prayer-book: 1) the Winnicki group, 2) the missionary group, 3) the Vilnius group, 4 ) the Czestochowa group, 5) the Berdyczow group, 6) the Galician group, 7) the Poznan group, 8) the Silesian group, 9) the Witwicki group, 10) the Odyniec group, 11) other ones. The above typology is a preparation for examining the contents of particular prayerbooks, and then for an attempt at answering the question about how strongly they influenced the formation of religiousness in the 19th century.

The paper Vladimír Petrík´s library is an attempt at „reading“ of a library from the perspective of the relation between the library and the owner. The inheritance left by literary scientist and critic Vladimír Petrík includes over 6000 books, which were accumulated and used by him during his life. Understanding the type, genre, functional and time structures of his library, i.e. the relations between the volumes accumulated in it, enables complementing the already well-known bibliographic profile of the owner, looking at his personality through this kind of specific cultural memory, which library is, understanding oscillation between professional orientation and reading as a personal interest, which becomes a necessity. The analysis of Vladimír Petrík´s library leads to the conclusion that although he was a „man of books“, he was not fetishist about them. They served his main interest, which was literature.

This article examines contributions by individual members of the Prague Linguistic Circle to the 'Ottuv slovnik naucny nove doby' (Otto's Encyclopedia of the New Era), published in 1930-1943. The encyclopedia was a very prestigious project at the time, so the participation of as many as 36 members of the Prague Linguistic Circle should not be considered too surprising. Offering a survey of the individual contributions with regard to whether they later became part of the contributors' published bibliographies, this article further demonstrates that at least a part of the entries in the encyclopedia by the members of the Circle, including some of the most prominent (Jakobson, Wellek, Mukarovsky and others), has thus far gone unnoticed. It also briefly assesses the contributions to the encyclopedia by several leading cultural figures of the time.

Written or printed texts are results of content, formal and functional concatenation of various alphanumeric characters and special graphic symbols including a space. The space is an empty position in linear graphic concatenation which is not taken by a graphic symbol. It is the distance among discrete graphic characters of a text (clusters of graphemes). Contemporary Slovak spelling textbooks include only minimal rules for its usage. A mass production of texts on computers and their editing stimulate writer ś interest in a correct usage of the space and also their need to establish principles of this usage in everyday praxis, as they were stabilized in typography and bibliography. The aim of the paper is to summarize these principles, i.e. to define principles complexly, to formulate and illustrate them by selected examples from printed and electronic texts.

The study focuses on the trends in church historiography in the Czech Republic from 2001 to 2013. It presents major works, mostly of a monographic character, which discuss history from the early middle Ages until the 20th century and deal with all aspects of the church history. The survey presents theological works, yet works which used a political perspective are mentioned as well. The study also includes monographs in foreign languages and written by researchers abroad, yet published in the Czech Republic. Even though the study offers just a selection from a wide spectrum of publications, it is still possible to identify certain trends and tendencies of the Czech church historiography in the Czech Republic.
