Let (X,d) be a metric space and T a self-map of X. Let Xn+i = f(T,Xn) denote some iterative procedure. Let {xn} be convergent to a fixed point u of T and {yn} be an arbitrary sequence in X. Set En=d[yn+i, f(T, yn)], n = 0,1,2,..., then the iterative procedure f(T,Xn) is T-stable provided that limEn = 0 implies that limnyn = u. This definition has been extended by Singh and Chadha [34] to discuss the problem of stability for multivalued operators on metric spaces. The purpose of this paper is to present a fixed point theorem for generalized multivalued contractions on a setting more general than metric spaces. The same is utilized to discuss the problem of stability of iterative procedures in multivalued analysis. Some special cases due to Stefan Czerwik and others are discussed as special cases.

The viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid past an infinite porous vertical plate under the combined buoyancy effects of thermal and mass diffusion has been studied under the action of transverse applied magnetic field taking into account the induced magnetic field, when the plate is subjected to constant heat and mass fluxes (CHFlCMF). The analytical solutions are found for velocity field, temperature distribution, induced magnetic field, current density, concentration field and the expressions for shear stress and rate of heat transfer are obtained and discussed in detail with the help of figures.

Konwencja COLREG”72 oraz międzynarodowe dyrektywy dotyczące bezpieczeństwa nawigacyjnego ratyfikowane przez Polskę szczególnie zobowiązują administracje RP do ich przestrzegania. Bezpieczeństwo nawigacyjne zależy od warunków geograficznych i hydrometeorologicznych oraz od zdolności manewrowych statku. W artykule przedstawiono analizę bezpiecznej prędkości i odległości mijania się dwóch statków VLCC na podejściu do Portu Północnego Gdańsk oraz analizę manewrów awaryjnych na redzie portu. Wszystkie badania były wykonane na symulatorze manewrowym VSHIP 2000.

Convention COLREG”72 and international directives for safe navigation ratified by Poland impose higher responsibilities on the Republic of Poland. Safe navigation depends on geographical arid hydro-meteorological conditions along with the ship’s manoeuvring abilities. This article presents the analysis of safe speed and safe distance during the passing manoeuvre of VLCC vessels on the road to Port Północny Gdańsk. This paper also presents the analysis of the emergency manoeuvres on the road to port. Ali these analyses have been performed on the YSHIP 2000 simulator by creating the real situation of Gdańsk Road.

The relaxed rigidity method is used for calculating the postseismic deformation of an elastic layer (lithosphere) overlying a yiscoelastic half-space (asthenosphere) caused by a very long dip-slip fault in the layer. The integrals involved are evaluated approximately by replacing the integrand by a finite sum of exponential terms. Detailed numerical results showing the variation of the surface displacements with the epicentral distance for various source depths and for various values of the relaxed rigidity of the half-space are presented graphically.
