Achievement motivation is an important prerequisite for students’ engagement, overcoming study difficulties and, ultimately, successful completion of their studies. The aim of this study is to find out the current level of performance motivation of the population of students of engineering high schools, to compare its level with the standard for high school population and to find out whether there is a relationship between its level and choice. Two questionnaires were used in the research. The first was the School Achievement Motivation Questionnaire for Pupils. The theory of achievement motivation is then based on the concept of independence of the need for successful performance and the need to avoid failure. The resulting orientation of a person in a performance situation then depends on the predominance of one or the other tendency. The second questionnaire was focused on finding personal data, questions of school choice, satisfaction with school choice and other. The research was carried out at the beginning of 2020 and the sample consisted of over 900 students. Main results of the study: First, in the component of performance motivation NACH (need to achieve) the performance motivation of the group is statistically different from the group norm. In the NAF (the need to avoid failure) component, the results are statistically identical. Second, schools do not differ in the results for the NACH component, but differ in the NAF component. Third, in both components, the value of performance motivation for beginners and for final years in both components is significantly different from other years. Fourth, the student’s statement on the choice of study at an engineering school as a primary choice is not related to the values of NACH and NAF. Fifth, the level of student’s achievement motivation in both components is related to the student’s idea of studying.

W artykule przeanalizowano i zbadano wpływ rodziny na preferencje edukacyjno-zawodowe i całożyciową edukację studentów z Polski i Czech. Scharakteryzowano system kształcenia w Polsce i Czechach oraz możliwości rozwoju zawodowego i kariery. Na podstawie wyników badań przedstawiono aktualną diagnozę stanu i stwierdzono, że styl wychowania i postawy rodziców kształtują osobowość dzieci i mają istotny wpływ na ich wybór zawodowy. Młodzież pragnie osiągnąć wyższe wykształcenie niż ich rodzice i wyższy status społeczny. Dobre wzorce i postawy rodziców (odpowiedzialność, pracowitość, uczciwość) motywują dzieci do nauki i pracy.

The paper presents the objectives and content of the educational module “Tools for Adaptive Learning. Learning Styles” within the MOOC course “ICT Tools for E-learning,” which is being developed at the University of Ostrava as an outcome of the IRNet project. The main aim of the course is to provide both academic scholars and students with the theoretical foundation of adaptive learning that will allow them to acquire skills, to use the existing courses in the existing adaptive e-systems, and/or to create new courses and systems. The content of the course includes the following: defining basic constructs used in the course; overview of the development of adaptive learning with the use of educational technologies, its theoretical concepts, and representatives; presentation of the results of the previous researches and educational effects of adaptive (e-)learning, and some of the concepts of adaptive learning that have recently been developed at the University of Ostrava.

This article, prepared by an international team of authors - researchers from different scientific areas, connected with ICT, e-learning, pedagogy, and other related disciplines - focuses on the objectives and some results of the IRNet international project. In particular, this article describes the research tools, methods and some procedures of the WP3 “Analyses and Evaluation of the ICT Level, E-learning and Intercultural Development in Every Participating Country”: Objec- tives, Tasks, Deliverables, and implementation of research trips. Except that, the article presents more important events, such as (video)conferences, semi- nars, workshops, an e-round table debate; among these events are ICTE2014, DLCC2014, “New Educational Strategies in Modern Information Space,” “High- tech information educational environment,” during which some more important results of the project research were presented. The list of publications includes 32 papers and a manuscript with WP3 results. Researchers from Poland, Russia, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Spain, Slovakia, Portugal, Czech Republic and Australia analysed the results of WP3 in the context of the next stages and Work packages of IRNet project - International Research Network.
