A lie is incompatible with the objective state of affairs, meaning that it is an assertion divergent from the truth. It is an act of deliberately bringing someone into error; at its core is the offender’s free decision to express thoughts contrary to his own conviction on a given matter – the liar in fact says what is untrue not because he does not know the truth, but because someone to whom he transmits this message will accept as truth what is not. And he does so with the knowledge and intention of convincing someone that he knows the truth. However a lie is considered by some to be an ordinary means of communication, we can conclude that this is not so. There is no doubt that lying is an example of some kind of anti-communication. It is in fact an action which on the surface resembles an act of communication. Due to its nature, which is not to build up a community, but the realization of self-serving, unauthorized purposes, it does not deserve to be called a communicative action.

The book is a handbook of communictaion and new media for students and researchers. It is a collection of 14 articles that discuss this topic from the point of view of different scientific fields. The strong point of the book is the extensive bibliography.

Five projects at IX Lublin Science Festival (15-21 September 2012) related to media and communications. These activities are focused on the use social media, plagiarism, violence in the media, manipulation of the media.

Oftentimes, it is believed that the manipulation is one of the activities involved in communication. It is not simply one among many competencies, but a kind of art; it is something one should learn in order to make remarkable achievements that will bring real benefits. However, in the humanities, philosophy and theology, the way of looking at manipulation is somewhat different. We must remember that it still means “a skillful hand grip”, we have to be aware that here we mean another person hold something. In other words, “to manipulate someone” is “to have something in one’s hand”, to have power over something, to treat something as an object, and to use something for one’s own needs. More specifically, manipulation is defined as the intentional, biased and secretive operation in to dictate to some man or group of people a false picture of reality in order to achieve their personal benefits; it is using people to achieve their own goals (according to the used neighbor). It is shaping the opinions and attitudes and directing behavior and human emotions, not only without a person’s consent, but also without their knowledge (in this sense, manipulation very clearly differs from formation, education and persuasion, which will be discussed later). However, we cannot be under the illusion that caring for our needs is always an action against another person, and demanding the implementation of legitimate needs is manipulation. Every person has the right to pursue their own legitimate needs. Of course, the limit that cannot be exceed is respect for the interlocutor. These reflections do not leave any doubt as to the fact that manipulation is seen as an unnatural (non-ecological) reality, and thus harmful to the human person. It is an evil that destroys a manipulated person as well as the manipulator and negatively affects the social order, impeding its proper maintenance. While the manipulator does not actually lie, a liar’s mentality and that of a manipulator’s are similar. They merely use different tools to obtain their undeserved and selfish interests. Both the manipulator and the manipulated person are responsible for the evil that appears in the world as a result of manipulation. The manipulated committed a mistake by showing too little concern for the truth and not sufficiently using their reason, allowing the manipulator to directly lead them into error. Manipulation cannot be considered to be communication. It is in fact a reality (action) that apparently resembles an act of communication. Due to its nature, meaning that it does not build the community (which belongs to the essence of communication), but is the achievement of self-serving purposes, it appears to be the action of anit-communication.

The article is devoted to a study of the flow's nature distribution in the above-bit ejection system as part of a series and parallel connection of two jet pumps designed to improve the technical and economic indicators of drilling production wells. Using the finite element method and computer programs, the critical value has been determined of the hydraulic resistance of the sludged section of the bottomhole, which provides an automatic change in the ejection system operation mode from injection to injection-suction. Regularities of changes in the hydrodynamic parameters of the ejection system have been established and the probability and conditions for the existence of non-operating modes of jet pumps have been analyzed. When conducting experimental studies, the influence of the flow rate of the working medium on the flow characteristic of a jet pump of a direct-flow and swirling working flow has also been determined. To swirl the flow, a plate with an inclination angle of the guide elements of 15° placed in the working nozzle of the jet pump has been used. The swirling of the working flow makes it possible to increase the injection ratio of the jet pump. The maximum increase in the value of the injection coefficient is 20.84% and corresponds to small (up to 104 ) Reynolds numbers of the working flow. The ratio between the maximum and minimum values of the injection coefficient of the flow characteristics of the jet pump when swirling the working flow is halved.

Artykuł poświęcony jest badaniu charakteru przepływu w układzie z wypływem nad świdrem w ramach szeregowego i równoległego połączenia dwóch pomp strumieniowych, zaprojektowanych, aby poprawić wskaźniki techniczno-ekonomiczne wiercenia otworów produkcyjnych. Do zawirowania przepływu zastosowano płytkę o kącie nachylenia elementów prowadzących 15° umieszczoną w dyszy roboczej pompy strumieniowej. Zawirowanie przepływu roboczego umożliwia zwiększenie współczynnika tłoczenia pompy strumieniowej. Maksymalny wzrost wartości współczynnika tłoczenia wynosi 20,84% i odpowiada przepływowi roboczemu w zakresie małych (do 104 ) liczb Reynoldsa. Stosunek pomiędzy maksymalnymi i minimalnymi wartościami współczynnika tłoczenia w charakterystyce przepływowej pompy strumieniowej przy zawirowaniu przepływu roboczego zmniejsza się o połowę.
