For α ∈ (1,2) we consider the equation $∂_t u = Δ^{α/2}u + b·∇u$, where b is a time-independent, divergence-free singular vector field of the Morrey class $M₁^{1-α}$. We show that if the Morrey norm $||b||_{M₁^{1-α}}$ is sufficiently small, then the fundamental solution is globally in time comparable with the density of the isotropic stable process.

The article refers to the ways in which the iconographic programme of the Knight’s Hall from the Royal Castle in Warsaw was portrayed in 19th-century graphics. The ideas devised by King Stanisław August in the spirit of the Enlightenment were extended by Franciszek Kostecki in lithography from 1819-1831. It depicts the apotheosis of Jan Henryk Dąbrowski, Tadeusz Kościuszko and Prince Józef Poniatowski, and was complemented with a quotation from Virgil’s Aeneid. The subsequent graphics were mainly executed in the workshops of Louis Letronne (c. 1821) and Józef Swoboda (published in Lviv in 1863). The last echo of extending the ideas of heroic leaders and the pantheon of national heroes is the painting by Jerzy Kossak ‘On the threshold of eternity’ from 1935 which depicts Józef Piłsudski entering Wawel Cathedral, and Józef Poniatowski and Tadeusz Kościuszko welcoming him there on the stairs.

On 31 January 1868, a bright fireball was observed over Poland and tens of thousands of meteorites fell northeast of the town of Pułtusk. Immediately after the fall, locals from Pułtusk went out to collect the meteorites estimated to number between 70,000 to 180,000 individual specimens. Pieces ranged from a single gram to 9 kg. The Zambrzycki family who were local land owners traded the largest mass of Pułtusk specimens to various international museums. Study shows information form institutions including Bonn, Berlin, London, Vienna, Paris, Smithsonian (Washington) and Stockholm. This paper documents the world’s biggest collections of Pułtusk specimens, and the provenance of specimens listing the original dealers, collectors and scientist who provided specimens to the various museum and institutional collections at the time.

The paper deals with sex crimes against minors, focusing on the offenders and their social stigmatization. We discuss their characteristics, examining selected interpretations and classifications of the phenomenon of pedophilia. It is presented here from two perspectives, psychological and legal. First, pedophilia is presented as a complex psychiatric disorder which can cause “behaviors involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child” (DSM-V). Second, legal regulations concerning sexually-based crimes against minors are discussed as they are formulated in the Polish Criminal Code. Presenting the psychological and legal characteristics of this type of sex crime, we try to find the reasons for frequent recidivism among the offenders (stigmatization is believed to be one of them).

We construct the fundamental solution of $∂_t - Δ_y - q(t,y)$ for functions q with a certain integral space-time relative smallness, in particular for those satisfying a relative Kato condition. The resulting transition density is comparable to the Gaussian kernel in finite time, and it is even asymptotically equal to the Gaussian kernel (in small time) under the relative Kato condition. The result is generalized to arbitrary strictly positive and finite time-nonhomogeneous transition densities on measure spaces. We also discuss specific applications to Schrödinger perturbations of the fractional Laplacian in view of the fact that the 3P Theorem holds for the fundamental solution corresponding to the operator.
