On the role of infections of Trichomonas vaginalis in man attention was turned in Poland already in 1928. Works published before 1939 and after the last war on trichomoniases in man included the problems of clinical, microscopical, cultivation and serological diagnosis of the diseaise and observations of the therapeutic effect of various methods of its treatment. As regards trichomoniasis of animals wider studies were undertaken not until after the last war. Presently particular atention is paid to infections of cows and bulls with Trichomonas foetus and to the methods of detection, treatnient and combating the disease. The problem of eventual mutual relation between the occurrence of the trichomonas in the alimentary tract of pigs and trichomonadiosis of cattle is studied (Stępkowski and cowork).
The authors compared the reaction in 114 women caused by toxoplasmine produced by the Parasitological Department of the "Universita Karlova'' in Prague and that one produced by the Parasitological Department of the Institute of Labour Medicine and Rural Hygiene in Lublin. At an equal dilution of antigens (1 : 1000) the first toxoplasmine induces more frequent and violent skin reactions. Some differences, which could not be nearer explained, were also observed when applying various dilutions. An exact standardization of the antigens aind diagnostic methods for toxoplasmosis should be introduced in order to be able to compare different results.
The authors examined 121 patients males with an effluvium from the urethra. They found in 66.1% of the cases a not-gonorrhoeal inflammation of the urethra. In 6.6% of all the cases of the inflammation of the urethra and 10% of the not-gonorrhoeal inflammations of the urethra were caused by Trichomonas vaginalis. In 1.7% of the cases of the total number of men with an effluvium from the urethra there coexisted the infection with diplococcus of Neisser and Trichomonas vaginalis.
