The article deals with the phenomenon of political corruption. Political corruption is dominantly perceived as a potential threat for the stability of state apparatus. We try to present a different point of view on this phenomenon. Our concern is to provide an explanation of corruption through the mutual relation between corruption and state apparatus. From this point of view corruption can represent a possible (and sometimes useful) strategy of acting in particular social fields. We call this strategy “habitus of corruption”. Th is article should serve as a summary study of the phenomenon of political corruption as well as a possible source of theoretical and methodological inspiration in the field of study of corruption. The last goal of this paper is to demonstrate the suitability of an interdisciplinary approach in social sciences.

This study can be seen as a contribution to contemporary debate about political populism in Europe and focuses on CAQDAS related interpretation of election programmes of political parties that have succeeded in parliamentary elections held in October 2017 in Czech Republic. In the light of moral panic related to so called “immigration crisis” almost all participating parties were influenced by this topic. Our analysis tries to provide interpretation of election discourse with focus on the issues of nation, migration and their discursive relation created via election programme of analysed political parties. It is possible to say, that we used the topics of migration and nation (more specifically portrait of migration as a threat to nation) as a symbolic line to distinguish between populist and non-populist political parties. As we argue, the most significant representative of populist political style is Freedom and Direct Democracy Party led by Tomio Okamura.

In the following article, we will explore the opportunities presented by Goff man´s dramaturgical approach for research in the Czech field of political science. Although dramaturgical analysis counts among the well-established approaches in other social sciences and humanities, and it has repeatedly demonstrated its power and utility in interpretative Political Science, in Czech Political Science it is still rather overlooked, both as a strategy of research, as well as a useful tool of interpretation. We divided our text into two main parts. In the theoretical part, we will deal with Goffman’s social theory and his analytic toolbox, stressing issues related to research in political science. In the second part, we will present examples of dramaturgical analysis of public and semi-public events, divided into four main categories illustrating the variability (as well as the practical limits) of this approach: Public Spectacle, Collective Ceremony, Dramatization of Symbolic Violence and Dramaturgy of Everyday Life. In the conclusion, we will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of this approach, potential topics for research as well as our experience with dramaturgical analysis when dealing with issues relevant for Czech Political Science.
