The article is a recapitulation of the Eight National Congress of Technical Device Maintenance made from the viewpoint of the Programme Council Chairman and at the same time the Chairman of the Exploitation Section of mechanical Engineering Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. It analyses activities carried out by national scientific - research circles in the field of technical device maintenance concerning the scope, the substantial level as well as it analyses the current, most important trends. Author defines the trends as megatrends. They appear in the national economy and determine the development directions of maintenance sciences.

Artykuł obejmuje ewidencję, klasyfikację i analizę zasobu słów kluczowych stosowanych w publikacjach z zakresu nauki o eksploatacji w krajowych czasopismach traktujących o tych zagadnieniach. Słowa kluczowe zaczerpnięto z publikacji przede wszystkim zamieszczanych w „Problemach Eksploatacji". Sklasyfikowano je w 11 grupach tematycznych. Przedstawiono wymagania metodologiczne stawiane pojęciom traktowanym jako słowa kluczowe oraz zakres ich spełniania przez obecnie używany zasób słów kluczowych. W zakończeniu przedstawiono sugestie dotyczące działań porządkujących ten zasób.

The paper comprises the records, classification and analysis of the key words resources used in publications from the area of maintenance science in national journals devoted to these problems. The basic sources of key words are papers published in ,,Maintenance Problems". They are classified in 11 thematic groups. The author presents methodological requirements concerning definitions treated as key words and the extent of meeting these requirements by the currently used key words resources. Moreover, the author suggests activities to be undertaken to marshal these resources.

Praca stanowi rekapitulację najważniejszych osiągnięć w zakresie tribologii i tribotechniki w XX wieku ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem stanu badań w Polsce. Autorzy dokonali również próby antycypowania kierunków rozwoju tribologii na początku XXI wieku. Stwierdzili, że wszystkie aktualne i przyszłościowe kierunki badań tribologicznych są w Polsce reprezentowane, co daje pomyślną prognozę rozwoju tego obszaru wiedzy i techniki w kraju.

The paper comprises the most important achievements in the field of tribology in 20th century with special attention to the state of research work in Poland. The authors have made an attempt to predict the trends in tribology at the beginning of 21st century.They have stated, that all the perspective directions in tribology are currently present in Polish research works. This gives the prospective forecast for future development of tribology in Poland.
