The two-step reduction of Zn(II) ions at the dropping mercury electrode in 1 MNaClO4/0.001MHClO4 with the addition of the isomers toluidine: o-, m- and p-, using an impedance method in wide potential and frequency ranges, was examined. The catalytic activity of m-toluidine and p-toluidine concerns both electron transfer steps. However, o-toluidine shows an inhibiting effect on these two stages, which may result from the hindrance of the group –CH3 of o-toluidine in formation of complexes with Zn(II) ions.
