The corrected publication date of Guérin Méneville’s publication “Histoire Naturelle des Crustacés, Arachnides et Insectes...Paris” affects some names proposed in the work cited above. The following nomenclatural acts based upon the date of publication of December 31st, 1838 for the text part and November 25th, 1830 for plate 2 are proposed. Cladophorus Guérin Méneville, 1830 (Lycidae) has priority over Cladophorus Gray, 1832 (Lampyridae). Consequently Spacekia Strand, 1936 is considered to be a junior objective synonym of Cladophorus Guérin Méneville, 1830 nес Gray, 1832. Metriorrhynchus Gemminger and Harold, 1869 is found to be the oldest replacement name for Metriorhynchus Guérin Méneville, 1838. Porrostoma Castelnau, 1838 is considered to be a valid name for a separate genus in Lycidae. Calopteron limbatum (F.) is designated to be the type species of the genus Calopteron Castelnau, 1838. Flabellotrichalus novaeguine- ensis nom. nov., comb. nov. is proposed for Cladophorus dimidiatus Bourgeois, 1892 nec Guérin Méneville, 1830 which is a senior objective homonym. Metriorrhynchinae Kleine, 1926 (Insecta, Coleoptera) is a valid name and Metriorrhymkus Gemminger et Harold, 1869 is the type genus of the subfamily. The authorship of some family group taxa has to be corrected: Calopterini Green, 1949 instead of Kleine, 1933 and Dexorini Bocák et Bocáková, 1990 instead of Kleine, 1933.

A new genus and tour new species of Indian endemic beetles belonging to the subfamily Ototretinae (Lampyridae) are described: Flabellopalpodes gen. nov., F. flavus sp. nov., F. brancuccii sp. nov., F. atricornis sp. nov., and F. tamilnaduensis sp. nov. One species formerly placed in Drilidae, Selasia maindroni Bourgeois, 1903, is transferred to the genus Flabellopalpodes, and consequently F. maindroni (Bourgeois, 1903) is proposed. A key to species and illustrations of diagnostic characters are given.

The net-winged beetles are often highly similar in external morphology due to evolution of common aposematic patterns. The reliable diagnostic characters are found only in males; mostly in their genitalia, size of eyes and shape of antennae. Molecular delimitation can provide further data to distinguish morphologically similar species and provide additional evidence when morphology based delimitation is ambiguous. Here, we present a review of Cautires with a single pronotal areola from Peninsular Malaysia. Five species have previously been described from the western coastal area of the Malay Peninsula and we identified further six species, four of them from male representatives and formally described here: C. paraimitator sp. nov., C. tanahratensis sp. nov., C. parallelus sp. nov., and C. tapahensis sp. nov. We demonstrate the high congruence between DNA and morphology based delimitation of species in most cases. DNA data enable identification of the female semaphoronts and the species variable in color patterns. The external morphological characters and male genitalia are illustrated and an identification key is provided.

The genera Euanoma Reitter, 1889 and Pseudeuanoma Pic, 1901 are revised. Both genera are classified in the family Drilidae along with Paradrilus Kiesenwetter, 1865, Drilus Olivier, 1790, Malacogaster Bassi, 1834 and Selasia Castelnau, 1836. All known species are redescribed and the following three new species are described, Euanoma curvata sp. nov., E. svihlai sp. nov., and E., marketae sp. nov. Phaeopterus graecus Pic, 1901 is transferred from Omalisidae to Drilidae and the new combination Euanoma graeca (Pic, 1901) is proposed; Euanoma semitestacea (Pic, 1907) comb. nov. is transferred from Pseudeuanoma Pic, 1901. Pseudeuanoma ionica semiobscura Pic, 1901 and Pseudeuanoma subimpressa Pic, 1901 are made junior subjective synonyms of Pseudeuanoma ionica Pic, 1901. The identification key for males of World genera of Drilidae and species of Euanoma Reiter, 1889 and Pseudeuanoma Pic, 1901 is given. The zoogeography and relationships between species and genera are discussed.

Ripiphoridae phylogeny inferred from rRNA and mtDNA markers and 23 taxa from four subfamilies is presented. Despite much denser sampling than previous studies and completeness of the assembled dataset, the phylogenetic signal from molecular markers remains ambiguous. The dataset does not support monophyly of Ripiphoridae and suggests the Ripiphoridae + Mordellidae clade with ripiphorid lineages forming gradual splits basally to Mordellidae. Previous hypotheses on relationships of Meloidae and Ripiphoridae and a single origin of developmental modifications are refuted. The ripiphorid subfamilies are regularly recovered and we found Pelecotominae and Ptilophorinae among deep splits. Ripidiinae, despite morphological divergence, are regularly found within the ripiphorid + mordellid clade in a sister relationships to Ripiphorinae + Mordellidae. Molecular phylogeny of Ptilophorus Dejean supports a hypothesis about their Gondwanan origin and subsequent dispersal to the Northern hemisphere. The clade Macrosiagon Hentz + Metoecus Dejean is well defined and majority consensus suggests a terminal position of Metoecus within Macrosiagon and the inferred subclades agree with the morphology-based species-groups. Ripiphorus caboverdianus Batelka & Straka, 2011 is lowered to a subspecies of R. arabiafelix Batelka, 2009.

The neotenic genus Atelius Waterhouse, 1878 from China is reviewed and two new species are described: A. brevicornis sp. nov. and A. kadoorieorum sp. nov., both from the tropical rainforests of Yunnan. The general appearance of all Chinese species and the morphology of male genitalia âre illustrated and a key to all Atelius species is provided. The distribution of Atelius and other widespread neotenic net-winged beetles in the northern part of the Oriental region indicates their survival in disjunctive regions, which were not affected by aridization and cooling of the climate. The current distribution is hypothesized as a relict of the earlier continuous range of neotenic beetles in the Oriental region.

We report the first know case of male hind-wing aptery among the net-winged beetles (Lycidae). Five male specimens of Cautires apterus sp. nov. were discovered by sifting forest litter in a very small (approximately 300 meters by 50 meters) Kamwala Forest within the North Pare Mountains, Tanzania. Besides being wingless, males of C. apterus sp. nov. have remarkably small body, shortened elytra and reduced pronotal and elytral costae. Generic assignment of this externally unusual new species is based on the molecular phylogenetic analysis, the structure of the male genitalia and the shape of the pronotum. We discuss biological and evolutionary significance of the discovery and suggest that the winglessness of male lycid beetles correlates with the female neoteny.

A monogeneric elateroid family Iberobaeniidae is endemic to the Iberian Peninsula. Two species of Iberobaenia Bocak, Kundrata, Andújar & Vogler, 2016 were formally described from Jaén and Murcia, and unidentified larvae were reported from Sierra de Cabra in Córdoba. Recent collecting effort yielded males conspecific with the earlier reported larvae and we describe these males as I. andujari sp. nov. We evaluate the genetic and morphological differentiation within Iberobaenia and illustrate male genitalia which provide principal morphological diagnostic characters. The new species differs in the shape of the prothorax and male genitalia. Moreover, its status is supported by the high genetic divergence of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I mtDNA fragment. We provide detailed data on the distribution and ecology of Iberobaenia and the identification key to adult males.

The tribe Lyponiini is studied with morphology and seven new species from China are described: Lyponia (Lyponia) cangshanica sp. nov., L. (L.) hainanensis sp. nov., L. (Poniella) pulchella sp. nov., L. (P.) qinlingensis sp. nov., L. (P.) tianquanensis sp. nov., L. (Weiyangia) muyuensis sp. nov. and Ponyalis variabilis sp. nov. The diagnostic characters are described and illustrated.

We studied molecular and morphological diversity of Platerodrilini from China. Oriental and Palearctic Platerodrilus were included in a phylogenetic analysis and major lineages are identified using molecular data and morphology. We reinstate Duliticola Mjöberg, 1925 from the synonymy of Platerodrilus Pic, 1921 as a subgenus in Platerodrilus s. 1. Additionally, we propose a new subgenus Zhelongia subgen. nov. for the type-species Platerodrilus (Zhelongia) igneus sp. nov. and three related species. Larva of P. (Z.) igneus sp. nov. is described. Zhelongia subgen. nov. represents a deeply rooted lineage in Platerodrilus s. 1. and all species from China, India, and Indo-Burma are included in Zhelongia. The highest diversity of Platerodrilus is found in the Sundaland and Chinese species represent a species-poor but morphologically distant lineage. The ranges of Chinese species define the northernmost distribution limits of Platerodrilus. These limits are probably affected by climatic fluctuations and the low ability of neotenics to rapidly colonize distant areas during interglacial periods. Lizhongiella gen. nov., a new genus of Platerodrilini is described for Lizhongiella hainanensis sp. nov. from Hainan.
