Content available remote The Effects of the Random Transverse Crystal Field on the Spin-1 Model
100%
EN
The effects of random transverse crystal field are investigated in the mean-field approximation on the spin-1 model. The transverse crystal field is applied on a lattice in a bimodal random distribution with a tunable parameter adjusting the strength of one mode with respect to the other one. Then, the phase diagrams are calculated on the reduced temperature-transverse crystal field planes for given values of probability p and coordination number q at zero external magnetic field h. It was found that the model gives both second- and first-order phase transitions and tricritical points which is a well-known behavior of the spin-1 model. In addition, the model also yields critical end points and end points for the first-order phase transition lines for appropriate p values.

Content available remote Square Ising Nanowire on the Bethe Lattice
100%
EN
The square-type nanowire is simulated on the Bethe lattice by using the core-shell structure consisting of the Ising spins. A nanoparticle is formed by placing a spin to the center and four others to the corners of a square. Then, each nanoparticle is combined with two neighboring ones with a perfect alignment of the squares to form the nanowire. Only nearest-neighbor spin interactions, either ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic type, are allowed. The phase diagrams are calculated by studying the thermal variations of magnetizations for various values of bilinear interactions. It is found that the model gives both second- and first-order phase transitions in addition to the tricritical points and compensation temperatures.

The phase diagrams of spin-1/2 Ising model on a two-layer Bethe lattice with antiferromagnetic interactions for each layer and either antiferromagnetic or ferromagnetic interaction between the layers are investigated by using the pairwise approach for given values of coordination number q. The exact expressions of the order-parameters, response functions and free energy are obtained in terms of the recursion relations. The ground-state phase diagrams are calculated for given system parameters of the model. In the guidance of the ground-state phase diagrams, the temperature dependent phase diagrams of the model are also studied in detail for given coordination numbers q = 3, 4 and 6. It was found that the system presents only second-order phase transitions with different thermal behaviors for all values of q. In addition, two Néel temperatures, T_{N}, are found for q = 6 only.
