Regression analyses of EQLS 2012 data confirmed that the risk evaluation is determined by many factors. On the basis of results gained it is possible to conclude, that the most important predictor of person’s perceived risk from crime, violence or vandalism in the immediate neighbourhood is predicated on other perceived problems with the quality of environment in the area where they live. Precision of the prediction is higher, when the individual at the same time perceives social exclusion, evaluates the quality of his/her housing negatively, or if in comparison with others judges financial situation of his/her household as worse, and when they see his/her life perspective negatively (life satisfaction, happiness, well-being). Lastly, the effect of prediction supplement the group of variables, which we described as an examination of personal prosperity (tightness, subjective health, mood) and its social context (trust to people, institutions, perceived tension between social groups in society).

Answers of 200 young people (Slovaks) from Hungary and from nationally mixed area of Slovakia on the 10 values list (personal values, social values and ethnic values) offered opportunity to analyse the preference of native language in these two groups of respondents. The main difference between these groups was manifested in the ethnic values section (native language, nationality) which are preferred more in the case of members of the ethnic minority (Slovaks in Hungary). Despite the fact, between the most preferred items in both groups are values „health“, „family“, and „freedom“.

For women to the most influential factors belong tiring and painful positions, exposure to the materials which can be infectious, loud noise (physical), stress, and handling of angry clients (psychosocial factors). For men these are tiring and painful positions, dust, low temperature, heavy loads (physical), stress, and handling of angry clients.

Personal safety and security in society are questions which are in the long term of interest to specialist and laymen alike. To this broad area belongs the study of objective conditions of work safety and perceived safety in the workplace. In this article we direct attention to the analysis of selected social (e.g. education, age, gender) and personal (e.g. work satisfaction, well-being) factors relating to the perceived work safety. The 5-th European Work Conditions Survey (EWCS 2010) data were used, in which 43 816 respondents from 34 countries took part.

Analysis of 200 young people (Slovaks) from Hungary and from nationally mixed area of Slovakia answers on the scales measuring attitudes to the functions of native language in two specific situational contexts (family, school) led to the identification of the main differences: attitudes of the Slovaks in Hungary are less positive as the attitudes of comparative group and the order of preferred functions of native language (1. value, 2. comprehensive, 3. denominative, 4. cultural) differs from the comparative group too (1. denominative, 2. comprehensive, 3. value, 4. cultural). The situational context demonstrated serious impact on the manifested attitudes of the target group (young Slovaks in Hungary): all 4 identified functions of the language were rated more positively in the school context.
