W artykule dokonano przeglądu kloszowych konstrukcji izolatorów kompozytowych oferowanych na rynkach handlowych. W aspekcie problematyki optymalizacji izolatorów kompozytowych przedstawiono wnioski z badań starzeniowych modelowych izolatorów w wysokonapięciowej komorze deszczowej i mgielnej.

In this paper different sheds construction of non-ceramic insulators available on market are described. In the aspect of non-ceramic insulator shape optimisation results and conclusions of model insulators ageing tests in high voltage rain and fog chamber are presented.

Podstawowym celem pracy było opracowanie nowej konstrukcji izolatora WN, zapewniającej możliwie optymalny rozkład pola elektrycznego w obszarze okucia izolatora. Stwierdzono, że około 80% wartości napięcia przyłożonego na izolatorze odkłada się na jego trzech pierwszych kloszach (licząc od strony okucia będącego pod wysokim napięciem). Jest to zjawisko niekorzystne, skracające okres bezawaryjnej pracy izolatora. Metodą symulacji komputerowej wykazano, że dzięki: zastosowaniu pierścieni sterujących, zaokrągleniu wszystkich ostrych krawędzi okucia oraz pokryciu warstwą silikonową połączenia okucie - część izolacyjna, możliwe jest ponad trzykrotne obniżenie natężenia pola w najbardziej newralgicznym punkcie izolatora.

New designed composite line insulators for H.V. networks 220 kV and over should ensure improved distribution of electric field especially in the vicinity of live fitting. Conventional solutions of live fittings generate the drop of voltage on first three sheds unless 80% of rated voltage. This is the main reason of accelerated ageing of composite insulators and shortening in consequence their life. Computer simulation method allows to estimate the influence of some factors on voltage distribution. It was discovered that associated action of special shape of fittings, grading rings as well as application of insulating coating make possible to reduce at least three times the intensity of electric field in sore points of fittings.

Within the confines of described work the structure of housing for surge arresters without gaps was carried out. This housing protects varistor stack against atmospheric agents (UV, moisture) and transfer the heat accumulated in varistor stack as a result of overvoltage. The materials for housing were selected and the optimal shape of external housing was carried out taking under consideration economic, thermal and insulating requirements. The goal of the work was successfully achieved and designed housing fulfils all requirements announced in the introduction of described work.
