The significance of the Smoluchowski theory transcends its initial goal of depicting pseudo-unimolecular irreversible kinetics. We show that a generalized Smoluchowski theory (GST) providesa short-time description for reversible geminate dissociation reactions even in the presence of a potential of interaction. Using this property, we succeed in constructing an excellent approximation for the whole time dependence, in which the GSTis the leading term.We discuss the implication of these observations to experimental data, particularly for excited-state proton transfer to solvent.

Technique for separate estimation of fast and slow fluctuations in the heart rate signal is developed. The orthogonal dyadic wavelet transform is used to separate the slow heart rate changes in approximation part of decomposition and fast changes in detail parts. Experimental results using the recordings from persons practicing Chi meditation demonstrated the applicability of estimation heart rate fluctuations with the proposed approach.

Magnetocardiography is a sensitive technique of measuring low magnetic fields generated by heart functioning, which is used for diagnostics of large number of cardiovascular diseases. In this paper, k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) technique is used for binary classification of myocardium current density distribution maps (CDDM) from patients with negative T-peak, male and female patients with microvessels (diffuse) abnormalities and sportsmen, which are compared with normal control subjects. Number of neighbors for k-NN classifier was selected to obtain highest classification characteristics. Specificity, accuracy, precision and sensitivity of classification as functions of number of neighbors in k-NN are obtained for classification with several distance measures: Mahalanobis, Cityblock, Eucleadian and Chebyshev. Increase of the accuracy of classification for all groups up to 10% was obtained using Cityblock distance metric in binary k-NN classifier with 19 - 27 neighbors, comparing to other metrics. Obtained results are acceptable for further patient’s state evaluation.

W artykule omówiono problemy związane z przepięciami ferrorezonansowymi oraz łukowymi przy jednofazowych zwarciach doziemnych w sieciach z izolowanym punktem neutralnym. Zaprezentowano model obliczeniowy i wyniki badań symulacyjnych mające na celu określenie zakresu parametrów sieci, przy jakich występują warunki stabilnego ferrorezonansu. Przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczące przepięć ziemnozwarciowych. W obu przypadkach założono stochastyczny charakter zjawisk. Wykazano, że krotność przepięcia ziemnozwarciowego jest proporcjonalna do napięcia przebicia izolacji.

The paper deals with problems regarding ferroresonance overvoltages and transient overvoltages due to single-phase faults in isolated networks. The calculation model has been presented as well as simulation results aiming at the determination of network parameters for stable ferroresonance conditions. Results are presented concerning transient overvoltages under ground faults. The stochastic character of phenomena has been taken into account. It has been shown that the multiplicity of overvoltage fault is proportional to the voltage insulation breakdown.

The main focus of research in part-fixture mechanics has been in the static deformation and part constraints. Little attention has been paid to the dynamic behaviour of these systems. However, the dynamics of the system largely determines the obtained precision during the machining process. The part is modelled as a lumped mass-spring model and the clampers and locators of the fixture are modelled as spring-dampers. The fixture frame is considered to be much stiffer than the locators, such that it provides zero displacement boundary conditions to the locators. In this study a piezoelectric actuator is utilized to provide adaptive clamping forces. The analysis has shown that position feedback can be used to minimize unnecessary displacement of the workpiece. Additionally, a lag filter can improve the steady state response.

The results of studies show the deposition conditions of the titanium-nitride based coatings and their structure influence on the tribological characteristics of the dry friction and in the diesel fuel. Tribological characteristics of multilayered systems on the basis of diamond-like coatings (DLC) have been studied. The deposition of the systems onto small-size cutting tools is found efficient for improving their service characteristics. When depositing the coatings to the cutting tool surface the microrelief of edges is not distorted and the service life increases 1.3 - 1.5 times. The morphology and tribological behaviour of composite and multi-layer polymer coatings based on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and polyurethane (PU) are studied after deposition by means the method of electron beam dispersion. It is shown possibility to produce fine-film systems based on polyurethane with polytetrafluoroethylene as filler that possess high tribological performance.

The paper summarizes experimental efforts of the Pushkov Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation (IZMIRAN) undertaken in search of the biggest part of Chelyabinsk meteorite in the bottom of lake Chebarkul, South Ural, Russia, and to estimate the ecological effects of its subsequent excavation.
