This article seeks to shed light on the complex nature of investing in public infrastructure sector. Governments around the world are decreasing their investment in that sector, creating a new asset class for investors. This tendency has led to emergence of innovative financing tools, such as private infrastructure funds, which allow many countries to finance large infrastructure projects. The article presents the characteristics of theses funds in the world, and indicated the desirability of their development in Poland.
