There are three main concepts of universals. They can be defined on the basis of two fundamental ontological relations: inherence and determination. Inherence holds between the abstract and the concrete, e.g. between a property and a thing; determination holds between the determinate and the determinable, e.g. between particular redness and colourness. (1) Abstract universals are defined as common properties, which inhere in many different things: (A). The contemporary debate on universals involves mainly this concept of universals. (2) Determination-universals are determinable aspects, which are determined by particulars or by particular properties (tropes): (B). It seems that Aquinas, Husserl, and Ingarden were determination-realists. (3) Concrete universals are wholes in which many different things inhere: (C). This is a concept of universals which can be found in Hegel, the neohegelians, and some Russian philosophers. Hegel's theory of concepts may be analyzed in the framework of a logical calculus of terms. The calculus is founded on a binary relation of 'including' (> or =), holding between terms. This relation is considered as an ordering relation. Four types of term domains are possible. One of them, with the root and the co-root (the biggest and the smallest element of domain) is taken to be a ground of Hegel's logic of terms. Some strange features of Hegel's logic found in the 'Preface' of the 'Phenomenology of Mind', such as 'checking the course of thinking', 'meeting by a counter-thrust' and 'absorbing the meaning of the subject within the predicate' are analyzed. It is shown that Hegel's logic can be considered as a special kind of a general logic of terms.

W artykule dokonano przeglądu i oceny rozwiązań krajowych I zagranicznych stosowanych dotychczas do zwalczania zagrożeń metanowych w kombajnach pracujących w kopalniach węgla kamiennego. Przedstawiono nową opracowaną w CMG KOMAG powietrzno-wodną instalację zraszającą dla kombajnów ścianowych przeznaczoną do zwalczania zagrożeń metanowych i pyłowych. Opisano istotę i budowę tego rozwiązania, zasadę działania i podano parametry techniczne. Omówiono również zrealizowany zakres badań, prób i testów oraz podano aktualny stan wdrożenia.

In the article a review and assessment of domestic and foreign solutions for methane hazard fighting has been made, as applied hitherto in heading machines operating in hard coal mines. Presented has been the new, developed by CMG KOMAG air and water sprinkling system for heading machines aimed at fighting methane and dustiness hazards. Described has been the nature and construction of this solution, as well as the principle of its operation and its technical parameters have been mentioned. Treated has been also the scope of concluded research work, of trials and tests and information on the present status as regards practical application has been given.

W artykule omówiono nowe rozwiązanie kurtyny powietrzno-wodnej do kombajnu cliodnikowego R'200, opracowane w CMG KOMAG. Przedstawiono budowę stanowiska badawczego zbudowanego w KD „Barbara" dla przeprowadzenia badań działania kurtyny pod kątem skuteczności gaszenia i zapobiegania wybuchom gazu. Opisano przebieg i omówiono uzyskane wyniki tych badań.

The article discusses a new solution of air-water curtain for heading machine type R 200 elaborated in CMG KOMAG. Presented is the construction of a test stand in the Experimental Mining Plant "Barbara" for curtains test performance in aspect of the effectiveness of gas explosion prevention and extinguishing. Described are tests results.
