New chondrichthyan material is reported from the Upper Devonian - Lower Permian of the various regions of the Russian Arctic. Shark remains are recorded from the Novaya Zemlya Archipelago for the first time. Ten species are described, two of which are new, Denaea? decora sp.n. and Adamantina foliacea sp.n. Upper Devonian - Lower Permian shark assemblages are discussed.

Ginteria fungiforma gen. et sp. nov. is described on the basis of isolated teeth from the Visean (Brigantian) of the Matlock Limestone Formation of Derbyshire, England and the Late Visean (Msta Formation) of the Novgorod District, and the Early Serpukhovian (Steshev Formation) of the Moscow District in Russia. The teeth are very small (0.54 mm maximum tooth height) with a deeply incised, pedestal-like crown/base junction separating the orthodont, enameloid-covered, unornamented crown from a base of overall anachronistid design. Alingually-offset occlusal crest lacks cusps and divides the crown into a short lingual section and a triangular labial section with a slightly concave surface, expanded to form a pronounced labial flange.

Przedstawiono wyniki badań laboratoryjnych skuteczności fotouczulacza Fotochlorin w fotodynamicznej terapii (PDT) nowotworów przeprowadzonej na myszach z wszczepionym nowotworem embriokarcinoma T36. Fotodynamiczna terapia z wykorzystaniem Fotochlorinu wywołuje wyraźną destrukcję nowotworu i przyczynia się do prawie dwukrotnego przedłużenia życia zwierząt doświadczalnych w grupie naświetlanej promieniowaniem lasera w dawce 300 J/cm2.

The paper presents results of laboratory investigations on photodynamic efficacy of photosensitizer Fotochlorin. The experiments were carried on mice with subcutaneous implanted embriocarcinoma T36. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with Fotochlorin caused cancer destruction and near twice increases the animals survival time.

W pracy zdefiniowano cechy fotouczulaczy niezbędne do efektywnego działania leczniczego. Eksperymentalnie określono istotne właściwości fotouczulaczy pochodnych chlorinu in vitro. Zbadano charakterystyki fotofizyczne oraz cytotoksyczność i cytofototoksyczność. Otrzymane rezultaty porównano z wynikami uzyskanymi dla innych fotouczulaczy.

Basic characteristics of fotosensibilizators for efficient therapeutic behaviour were defined. Important properties of chlorine derivatives were experimentally determined in vitro. Photophysical characteristics as well as cytotoxicity and cytophototoxicity were estimated. The obtained results were presented in a comparison to some other fotosensitizers.
