Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation in March 2014 sounded like a memento as 70 years since Stalin's deportations of the Crimean Tatars from Crimea to Central Asia were commemorated. The Tatars, who make up more than 12% of Crimea's total population of two million people, have been extremely concerned about the situation. Current status may adumbrate strained relationship between the Russian leadership and the Crimean Tatars, respectively in the case of ignoring the rights of the Crimean Tatars it may cause radicalization of the Tatar ethnic minority which can subsequently lead to a wave of destabilization in the peninsula. The article acquaints the reader with radical political and religious organizations of the Crimean Tatars and the groups that may become radical in new conditions in the peninsula. The article is concerned with the Russian strategy towards the Crimean Tatars for the purpose of neutralizing their potential radicalization.

Online journalism is characterised by specific features that distinguish it from its predecessors. It is not only interactivity, timeliness and new elements that make it unique. The way in which digital media are funded is also interesting. While in print media it is customary to pay directly for a copy of a newspaper, the situation is different in the online space. News content is usually freely accessible and online advertising in the form of banner ads or PR pieces is present. However, funding the medium can be unprofitable in this model, which is why some publishers have chosen to hide their web content behind a paywall. Recipients must thus pay for news directly again – in the form of subscriptions. The aim of the study is to shed light on the issue of online media financing in order to explore different monetisation strategies and their efficiency in the era of COVID-19.

The study deals with the legal regulation of publications in the Slovak Republic, noting the position of publishers and web portal operators in the context of the new law ‘on publications’. This law specified publishers and operators as participants in the media market, defined community media, and established modern regulatory elements, including self-regulation, which have brought significant transparency to the ownership and financing of print and web media. In this study, we note the historical outline of the development of the press after 1989, the stabilisation of the situation within the legislative regulation of the press in 2008, while our primary objective is to define the current legal standards of the newly adopted Publications Act. We also reflect on the possible risks and problems that the new law entails, but our main aim is to present the fundamental and innovative changes that have resulted from several years of legislative process in the field of media law.
