Both experimental and numerical investigation of the field off ocused circular piston are carried out. The on axis distribution of fundamental and higher harmonic components of the radiating wave as well as the distribution of those components at chosen planes ipapendicular to the beam axis are traced. Measurements of harmonic generation are compared with numerical calculations based on the nonlinear parabolic wave equation.
The aim of the paper is to characterize the conditions of finite amplitude wave propagation in the Southern Baltic. It is known that sound propagation in shallow water depends on many factors, such as water depth, sound speed profile, sea surface and bottom roughness, and bottom sediments distribution. Changes in the sound speed distribution in shallow water are the main factor influencing propagation of the wave of infinitesimal small amplitude. Propagation of finite amplitude wave in the sea depends moreover on spatial distribution of nonlinear parameter B/A as well as attenuation coefficient. The paper contains the results of experimental and theoretical research based on a large number of in situ measurements
