Transport systems are a key element of the socio-economic development of each region, country, continent. Their form, distinctive elements depend on the geographic location, demographics and place the region in a socio-economic system of countries and continents. The paper presents the issues concerning of regional freight transport systems by making a division of the system into three subsystems: internal, external and transit. The analysis of each subsystem is has allowed to indicate the technical and organizational elements that make up the transport processes and determining efficiency of their implementation. The analysis was performed using as a case study of freight transportation system in the West Pomeranian region. In the region are realized land and land-sea transport processes in latitudinal and meridian relationships and freight transport system consisting of subsystems: internal, external and transit.
