In in-depth pastoral reflection, the author proposes a novel model of pastoral care for young people, drawing on his own experience and studies of the "Light-Life" movement. In the reflection and analysis of pastoral problems, he also refers to the teaching of John Paul II presented in the apostolic letter "Ecclesia in Europa". The aim of this article is to point out the necessary measures that would help in the development of suitable local conditions in the parish. In the space created, community (youth groups) could gather to make the effort of Christian formation. Both biblical and liturgical preparation for prayer is particularly important. In terms of personal formation, it should act as an introduction to the spiritual and sacramental life. As a special practice, the author suggests regular celebrations of Mass, penitential devotions and fulfilment of the commandment to love one's neighbour. Very helpful in organising the proposed model are the experiences and successes of the Polish scout movement.

The article has raised the issue of the implications of papal teaching during World Youth Day in Krakow in 2016 for the youth ministry, and especially for the youth ministry in Poland. At the beginning the condition of today’s youth was shown in terms of the teaching of Pope Francis. Then, there were defined the main objectives of the pastoral care of young people based on the analysis of the Pope’s teaching. They are: assistance in meeting God, help in the discovery of the own vocation and help to make the apostolate proper to all the baptized. In the framework of these objectives there have been identified some specific, detailed tasks for clergy working with young people and their lay volunteers.

W artykule zostało poruszone zagadnienie implikacji nauczania papieskiego podczas Światowych Dni Młodzieży w Krakowie w 2016 roku dla duszpasterstwa młodzieży, a zwłaszcza dla duszpasterstwa młodzieży w Polsce. Na początku przedstawiono kondycję współczesnej młodzieży w ujęciu papieża Franciszka. Następnie, na podstawie analizy nauczania papieskiego wskazano zasadnicze cele pastoralnego towarzyszenia młodym ludziom. Są nimi: pomoc w spotkaniu Boga, pomoc w odkryciu własnego powołania oraz pomoc w podjęciu apostolatu, właściwego wszystkim ochrzczonym. W ramach tych celów zostały wskazane konkretne, szczegółowe zadania dla duchownych pracujących z młodymi ludźmi oraz ich świeckich pomocników.

The Polish post-war pastoral care of emigrants was shaped in great measure by bishop Joseph Gawlina, who on 28 January 1949 was appointed a patron of Polish emigration by the pope Pius XII. Among his important tasks there was a concern for the shape of education of Polish youth on emigration. Information about that can be found in personal notes, correspondence, addresses by archbishop Gawlina and monographs on pastoral care of the Polish community abroad. Archbishop Joseph Gawlina saw the future of the Polish community abroad in young people. Often in his letters and speeches he underlined the significance of the work with young people and their involvement in social life. His pastoral care for young people took different forms. They included: influencing the form of educational system and school catechesis, formation of students through college chaplaincy, encouragement to involve young people in parish ministry and church youth organizations, development of the charity care and care of formation of seminarians.

Od pierwszych wieków chrześcijaństwa Kościół dostrzegał kwestię istnienia i odkrywania charyzmatów. Są one wzbudzane we wspólnocie Kościoła przez Ducha Świętego. Charyzmaty muszą być uznane, aby móc służyć wspólnocie wierzących. Jednym z rodzajów charyzmatów są charyzmaty zgromadzeń zakonnych. Wśród nich znajduje się charyzmat Zgromadzenia Księży Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego założonego przez o. Leona Dehona. Główny problem tego artykułu sprowadza się do pytania o przyjęcie tego charyzmatu w duszpasterstwie młodzieży. Aby rozwinąć to zagadnienie, autor w ramach teologii pastoralnej zastosował następujący schemat: przypomniał definicję charyzmatu i wynikające z tego warunki tożsamości i duszpasterstwa, krótko opisał podstawowe formy duszpasterstwa młodzieży w Polskiej Prowincji Zgromadzenia Księży Sercanów, następnie opisał kwestię recepcji kościelnej oraz wysunął końcowe wnioski w postaci imperatywów duszpasterskich. Pierwszy imperatyw wymaga odwagi, by dzielić charyzmat Zgromadzenia z nieustannym odkrywaniem tożsamości instytutu zakonnego. Drugi imperatyw dotyczy działalności i formacji w duchu katolickiej nauki społecznej.

From the first centuries of Christianity, the Church saw the issue of the existence and discovery of charisms. They were and are raised in the community of the Church by the Holy Spirit. They must be recognized to serve the community of believers. Charisms of religious congregations are one of the charism types. Among them is the charism of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, founded by Father Leon Dehon. The main problem of the work boils down to the question of the reception of this charism in youth ministry. In order to develop such a problem, the author, in the framework of pastoral theology, used the following scheme. He recalled the definition of the charism and the resulting terms of identity and pastoral care. He briefly described the basic forms of pastoral ministry of the youth in the Polish Province of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Then he described the issue of the ecclesiastic reception and gave pastoral imperatives as final conclusions. The first imperative calls for courage in sharing the charism of the Congregation with the constant discovery of the identity of a religious institute. The other one for activity and formation in the spirit of Catholic Social Teaching.

The Synod of the Bishops concerning youth ministry, which took place in 2018, points out that pastoral ministry conducted among young people should take place primarily on the parish level as part of the ordinary ministry. However, salutary activity of the Church among youth requires also the presence of extraordinary, categorical ministry elements, which should happen through proper preparation of the priest himself and the animators that are helping him. Such activity can contribute to effectiveness of conducted pastoral actions. Without doubts it seems that the vision and strategy of ministry conducting on the level of diocese, deanery and parish, as well as the knowledge of spiritual condition of young people, their difficulties and living environment are necessary. The youth ministry in the Diocese of Opole is trying to answer to this challenges and through various types of initiatives and Christian constant formation desires to help the young people and accompany them to the meeting with the person of Jesus Christ.

Synod Biskupów dotyczący duszpasterstwa młodzieży, który odbył się w 2018 roku, zauważa, iż posługa pastoralna prowadzona wśród ludzi młodych powinna odbywać się przede wszystkim na poziomie parafii w ramach duszpasterstwa zwyczajnego. Jednak działalność zbawcza Kościoła wśród młodzieży wymaga także obecności elementów duszpasterstwa nadzwyczajnego, co ma dokonywać się poprzez odpowiednie przygotowanie samego duszpasterza i pomagających mu animatorów. Takie działanie może przyczynić się do efektywności prowadzonych działań pastoralnych. Niewątpliwie konieczne wydają się również: wizja, strategia prowadzenia duszpasterstwa na szczeblu diecezji, dekanatu i parafii, a także znajomość kondycji duchowej młodego człowieka, jego trudności oraz środowiska życia. Duszpasterstwo młodzieży diecezji opolskiej stara się na te wyzwania odpowiedzieć i poprzez różnego rodzaju inicjatywy oraz chrześcijańską formację stałą pomaga młodym i towarzyszy im w spotkaniu z osobą Jezusa Chrystusa.
