This report concerns the state of research dealing with buildings along the sea coast. Upon the basis of historical data, cartographic material and her own findings, the author discusses the rural configuration of villages located to the west o f Słupsk, the pattern of farms and types o f buildings. The absence of an emotional attitude on the part of the owners towards the buildings, which do not comprise a part of an inherited past, hampers the difficult task of protection
