All urban mains water is treated to drinking water standards despite the fact that only few percent of domestic water consumption is for drinking. Rainwater collected from roofs and stored in tanks is an excellent alternative water source for domestic uses such as toilet flushing, laundry and garden watering. This paper presents a general characteristics of rainwater utilization systems, key components and some design considerations.
