Braille is a universal tactile writing system for the blind and visually impaired. Braille can be printed in several ways, including embossing, screen, or UV ink-jet printing. In this study, we propose to use three-dimensional, 3D, printing technology to print dots of the Braille alphabet. The 3D model was designed with CAD software and then overprinted with Fused Deposition Modelling, FDM, technology with polylactide filament. Then, the quality of braille dots was assessed according to the standard for Braille. The estimated height (0.5 mm) and diameter (1.3 mm) for Braille dot were not achieved for the designed model. The measured values of the Braille dots were 0.38±0.03 mm and 1.0±0.07 for the height and diameter, respectively. The dot quality was assessed with an optical microscope. The distribution and location of the Braille can be acceptable, but the reproduction of dot shape, curvature, and dimensions is not compatible with the standard for Braille dots. Despite that, Braille is readable, and FDM can be a cheap solution to develop customized and unique plates with Braille imitating conventional Braille dots embossed in cardboard.

The article discusses damages of essential tribological associations in crankshaft and piston systems of large power two-stroke engines used as main engines, which take place during transport tasks performed by those ships. Difficulties are named which make preventing those damages impossible, despite the fact that the technical state of engines of this type is identified with the aid of complex diagnostic systems making use of advanced computer technology. It is demonstrated that one of causes of the damages is the lack of research activities oriented on recognising random properties of the loads leading to those damages. A proposal is made for the loads acting at a given time t on tribological associations in crankshaft and piston systems of internal combustion engines used as main engines to be considered as random variables Qt. At the same time the loads examined within a given time interval tr ≤ t ≤ tz would be considered stochastic processes {Q(t): t ≥ 0}. Essential properties of the loads of the abovementioned tribological associations are named and explained by formulating hypotheses which need empirical verification. Interval estimation is proposed for estimating the expected value E(Qt) of the load Qt acting at time t. A relation is indicated between the mechanical load and the thermal load acting on tribological associations in the ship main engine crankshaft and piston system. A suggestion is formulated that a stochastic form of the relation between these types of load is to be searched for, rather than statistic relation, and a proposal is made to measure the intensity (strength) of the stochastic relation using the Czuprow’s convergence coefficient.

The article seeks to establish a foundational framework for comprehending crucial definitions and concepts related to auditory space in digital gaming, particularly focusing on audio games designed for visually impaired individuals (VI), often devoid of graphical interfaces. While existing studies often emphasize players’ interactions with interfaces and the acquisition of real-life skills, this text explores audio games through the lens of entertainment and immersion. Numerous studies indicate a demand among visually impaired players for more intricate and challenging games, incorporating elements usually used in standard digital gaming experiences. By combining definitions from both audio and traditional digital games, this article broadens the scope of sound design considerations, encompassing various aspects and classifications. It presents several auditory dimensions, consolidating them into a comprehensive dimension called attenuation, putting their roles within a game’s context. The author is a sound designer currently working on an audio game; therefore, many of the presented definitions are also a guide that will represent some of his own considerations while working on this game. These include not only the use of binaural or ambisonic sound but also understanding the ways and means of how to work with (3D) space in the context of audio and its possible functions.

Vision is the most essential sense for humans. Vision impairment is one of the most problems faced by the elderly. Blindness is a state of lacking the visual perception due to physiological or neurological factors. This paper presents a detailed systematic and critical review that explores the available literature and outlines the research efforts that have been made in relation to movements of the blind and proposes an integrated guidance system involving computer vision and natural language processing. An advanced Smartphone equipped with language intelligence capabilities is attached to the blind person to capture surrounding images and is then connected to a central server equipped with a faster region convolutional neural network algorithm image detection algorithm to recognize images and multiple obstacles. The server sends the results back to the Smartphone which are then converted into speech for the blind person's guidance.

The article presents the achievements of Sister Roza Czacka related to the rehabilitation, education and upbringing of people with visual impairments. It demonstrates the convergence between her assumptions and methods with current trends in the field of sight rehabilitation, development of spatial orientation, social attitudes towards the blind, adaptation of books and aids, early development support, rehabilitation education and the importance of work for the blind. The above mentioned issues are extremely important for the improvement of living conditions of the blind as well as for their integration as contributing members of society. The value of the Order of Franciscan Sisters Servants of the Cross, founded by the Charity of Franciscan women, is confirmed through its century long period of activity and the high level of institutions it operates in Poland and around the world. The work which Róża Czacka began is constantly developing in accordance with the founder's main principles of preparing the visually impaired, within the context of a religious upbringing, to lead independent lives.
