The problem of dimorphism in the Russian standard language at the level of the verb formation embraces the whole history of language development. The phenomenon of the parallelism in the present tense, which can be met in the bulk of the verbs ending in -at, makes it difficult to choose the correct language form while communicating. The principle of the historicity when studying such a kind of synonymy as well as a detailed analysis of the language factors - not only in the standard form of the language but also in dialects - help us to give characteristics of the current grammatical synonymy and to plan some perspectives of the abovementioned phenomena.
