This paper discusses the requirements to be met when designing rooms with sloping ceilings. In the context of the requirements related to the calculation of the average room height - given in the technical conditions for buildings - the concept of the so-called basic space is introduced. Standardised principles for calculating the usable area of these rooms in accordance with the building design regulation were indicated.

W artykule przedstawiono nowe rodzaje wskaźników powierzchniowych, wprowadzone przy nowelizacji normy PN-ISO 9836:1997: Właściwości użytkowe w budownictwie - Określanie i obliczanie wskaźników powierzchniowych i kubaturowych. Zwrócono także uwagę na istotne ograniczenia w sposobie zagospodarowania powierzchni użytkowej.

New types of surface indicators are presented in the articles. The indicators have been introduced with the amendment of the PN-IS0 9836:1997 norm: Performance standards in the building industry - Definition and calculation of area and space indicators. Significant limitations in the method of developing the usable area have also been highlighted.

W artykule odniesiono się do wybranych wymagań normowych dotyczących zasad uwzględniania powierzchni pomieszczeń o różnej wysokości, przeznaczonych na pobyt ludzi, przy wyznaczaniu wskaźników powierzchniowo-kubaturowych oraz do wymagań przepisów dotyczących kwalifikacji tych pomieszczeń do przewidywanych zastosowań. W kontekście wymagań związanych z obliczaniem średniej wysokości pomieszczenia – podanych w warunkach technicznych dla budynków – wprowadzono pojęcie tzw. przestrzeni podstawowej. Wskazano na normalizacyjne zasady obliczania powierzchni użytkowej tych pomieszczeń zgodne z rozporządzeniem o projekcie budowlanym.

The article refers to some of the standard requirements concerning the principles of taking into account the area of rooms of different heights in the determination of area and volume indices, as well as to the requirements of the regulations concerning the qualification of these rooms for the envisaged uses. In the context of the requirements related to the calculation of the average room height – given in the technical conditions for buildings – the concept of the so-called basic space was introduced. Standardised rules for the calculation of the usable area of these rooms in accordance with the Building Design Regulation are indicated.
