Designing excavation constructions in underground mines finding a compromise between assuring safety in those excavations and maximizing the economic effect. Another difficulty in designing underground excavations is the changeablity of natural and mining conditions on of the excavation and the approximate parameter values descrbing the maintenance conditions. Solving this problem is possible due to the usage of the probabilistic designing method based on the construction reliability and safety theory. Basing on the random character of the rock massive effect on excavation support and the random character support load capacity, as the optimizing criterion in the process of support choice, a function of risk linked with the failure, with the results, probability is assumed. The raised problem is presented on the example of excavation designing in underground collierys.
