In the paper a new construction of the modular reluctance motor (Transverse Flux Motor) with an outer rotor is presented. As a results of change of the motor magnetic circuit shape, the torque pulsations are greatly reduced and the average electromagnetic torque significantly increases. For the computation of an optimal magnetic circuit shape a 3D finite element software (Flux3D) was used and an evolutionary algorithm in Matlab was implemented. In the evolutionary algorithm used for optimization, six parameters (r1 r2, r3, l2, α β [3 - see Fig. 3) were taken into account. Several computer simulations were carried out and the results were compared with the prototype version of the motor.
