Każdy z nas z korzysta z niego prawie codziennie. To tutaj właśnie zaczynamy i kończymy swoją podróż. Czasem spędzamy w tym miejscu bardzo dużo czasu, bywa i tak, że korzystamy z niego „w przelocie”. Tutaj czekamy na autobus czy tramwaj, ale także dowiadujemy się, o której przyjeżdża nasz środek transportu. Choć najczęściej jest jeszcze w postaci samotnego słupka, to jednak jego nowe formy i niestandardowe wykorzystanie staje się powoli wizytówką miast. Przystanek – to o nim mowa.

Travel comfort depends on many criteria, including, to a large extent, the passenger's sense of security while waiting for the vehicle and while driving. For this reason, tram stops play an essential role in the overall assessment of the functioning of the tram system in cities. The presented results of the literature review indicate that few publications related to safety in the tram transport system concern aspects of the infrastructure of stops. The articles we distin-guished in this area also prove the lack of publications in which the researchers focus on the criteria for assessing the safety of tram stops. The paper aims to present the results of research conducted among experts, which concerned identifying criterions influencing the safety of tram stops and the selection of criteria for their evaluation. In addition, the obtained results are the basis for further analysis of safety at tram stops. The research was conducted among experts representing almost all cities in Poland with a tram service system for residents. The obtained results showed that the critical elements from the safety point of view are those related to technical aspects, i.e., length, width, and height of platforms, which are adapted to both the rolling stock and the size of passenger flows. The second significant group of criteria determining the safety of stops is equipping them with elements supporting their use by people with disabilities, i.e., placing warning fields at the edges of the platform, designating a waiting area for people with reduced mobility, or the use of guiding lanes. It is also crucial to maintain adequate separation of traffic between its various participants so that other people do not use the waiting and passenger exchange zone. The results obtained as part of the analysis will form the basis for the development of a detailed method of assessing tram stops in Poland in terms of their safety.

W krajach z rozwiniętym systemem kolei dworce stanowią oczywisty punkt integracji sieci kolejowej z systemem miejskiego transportu. Rzadko się zdarza, by główne linie szynowej komunikacji miejskiej omijały główny dworzec kolejowy - tak jak to się stało z warszawskim metrem. Rozwiązanie przystanków przydworcowych, a często także pętli autobusowych (rzadziej tramwajowych) wraz z systemem podejść i podjazdów samochodowych stanowi często trudny problem urbanistyczny, tym bardziej, że plac przeddworcowy powinien jednocześnie stanowić element reprezentacyjnej przestrzeni miejskiej.

Artykuł analizuje, przede wszystkim pod kątem bezpieczeństwa, warunki panujące podczas wsiadania i wysiadania z pojazdów na kilku rodzajach przystanków tramwajowych. Wyniki przeprowadzonych pomiarów wskazują na poziom konfliktów ruchowych powstających pomiędzy różnymi użytkownikami. Opisano zachowania pasażerów i kierowców pojazdów, które zmniejszają komfort korzystania z transportu publicznego, m. in. w aspekcie bezpieczeństwa. Artykuł prezentuje opis jakościowy i ilościowy powstających zdarzeń. Badania ankietowe pozwalają ustalić, jak różne typy przystanków są oceniane przez użytkowników: pasażerów, motorniczych i kierowców samochodów. Respondenci wskazali również czynniki, wpływające na poziom bezpieczeństwa na przystankach tramwajowych.

Paper analyses the conditions occurring during getting on and getting out the vehicles at few types of tram stops, especially taking into consideration the safety. Results of carried out measurements indicate the levels of conflicts which arise between different users. Paper describes the behaviours of passengers and drivers in vehicles which make smaller the comfort of usage of public transport modes form the point of view of safety. The qualitative and quantitative description of occurrences was presented. Questionnaire research allows to determine how different types of stops are evaluated by users: passengers, tram drivers and drivers of cars. Respondents indicated also the conditions influencing the level of safety on tram stops.
