A high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method coupled with photodiode array (PDA) detection has been developed and validated for simultaneous analysis of six active components (syringin, hyperoside, baicalin, quercetin, baicalein, and farrerol) of the Chinese medicinal preparation Qin-Bao-Hong antitussive tablet. The optimum conditions for separation were achieved on a 3.9 mm × 150 mm i.d., 5-μm particle, C 18 column with a linear mobile phase gradient prepared from acetonitrile and 1% acetic acid at a flow rate of 1.0 mL min -1 . Because of the different UV characteristics of these compounds, four detection wavelengths were used for the quantitative analysis (265 nm for syringin, 256 nm for hyperoside and quercetin, 277 nm for baicalin and baicalein, and 296 nm for farrerol). For all the analytes a good linear regression relationship ( r > 0.999) was obtained between peak area and concentration over a relatively wide range. The method was validated for repeatability, precision, stability, accuracy, selectivity, and robustness. The validated method was successfully applied to simultaneous analysis of these active components in Qin-Bao-Hong antitussive tablet from different production batches.
Introduction. As a Complementary Integrative Practices (CIPs), Lian Gong has been increasingly used in the practice of Physiotherapy. Aim. This study aims to verify the effects of Lian Gong in a patient with fibromyalgia. Description of the case. In this case study the patient (one patient is evaluated) was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 29 years ago and sought care following discontent with previous treatments. Pain intensity was assessed with a visual analog scale (VAS), quality of life with SF-36, and the pressure pain threshold algometer (PPT). There were 16 visits with two weekly 60-minute sessions. When the patient was reevaluated, a Global Perception of Change (GPC) scale was added to assess general health. A folder was submitted to the patient for follow-up of exercises at home and asked to return after 4 weeks (follow-up period). Conclusion. The results indicate improvement in pain, functional capacity and general health. As a first therapy treatment, Lian Gong proved promising results in one case of fibromyalgia. The possible benefits when combined with other forms of care should be explored by clinical trials to expand knowledge of health benefit potential.

Technika nieliniowego chemicznego fingerprintu NCF (non-linear chemical fingerprint) może być z powodzeniem stosowana do kompleksowej oceny układów złożonych. NCF wykorzystano do badania korzenia rośliny Sophorae Subprostratae ( Sophora subprostrata Chun et T. Chen), stosowanego w tradycyjnej medycynie chińskiej. W badaniach uwzględniono parametr jakościowy i parametr ilościowy reakcji (czas i potencjał) oraz ustalono matematyczną zależność pomiędzy nimi. W układzie oscylacyjnym złożonym z bromianu sodu, kwasu siarkowego, acetonu i siarczanu manganu optymalny zakres detekcji składników Radix Sophorae Subprostratae uzyskano dla ilości 0,7-1,5 g sproszkowanego korzenia. Wykazano pewne różnice w chemicznym składzie próbek Radix Sophorae Subprostratae pozyskanych z różnych regionów. Uzyskane wyniki porównano z wynikami analizy chromatograficznej.

Radix Sophorae Subprostratae (traditional Chinese medicine) was evaluated in a fixed system consisting of NaBrO3, H2SO4, Me2CO and MnSO4 do det. its fingerprint. Three oscillation areas were established. The results agreed with chromatog. detd. data.
