The choice of appropriate economic policy and especially the determination of the scope of State's role in creation of adequate frames of functioning of commercial entities is an extremely important issue. Throughout centuries of economic history of the world, a lot of tendencies and schools appeared. Some of them chanted slogans of economic liberalism and other supported state's intervention ism. Both pro- and anti-interventionist opinions fought between each other for domination, both on the grounds of theory of economy and in economic practice. The article discusses elementary schools of both tendencies. Main emphasis has been placed on their attitude towards private property.
