The publication gives an overview of the mechanical and laser cutting of non-oriented electrical steels. The selected steels are fully and semi-processed and differ from their amount of Si which ranges between 0.13 and 3% Si. All the magnetic properties were monitored at the commercial frequency of 50Hz. The laser cutting was more harmful for the magnetic properties than the mechanical. Thermal stresses which appeared at the cut edge after cutting are believed to be the main reason of the excessive magnetic deterioration of laser cur samples.

Przedstawiono przeglad metod laserowego i mechanicznego ciecia blach pradnicowych. Badano blachy "fully processed" i "semi-processed" z zawartością krzemu od 0,13% do 3%. Właściwości magnetyczne blach były badane przy częstotliwości 50Hz. Wpływ cięcia na jakosć materiału był większy przyzastosowaniu ciećia laserowego. Przyczyna mogą być naprężenia termiczne w pobliżu krawędzi.

The experimental results obtained during low-cyclic tensile deformation of woven polyamide belts were presented. The temperature and mechanical characteristics of tension, low-cyclic loading, unloading and stress relaxation processes were found. The temperature changes accompanying the woven belt deformation turned out to differ from those, which were found for the sheet polyamide solid specimens. Such temperature results were caused both by the effects of the material as well as by the effects of the fibrous belt structure. The maximal temperature increments observed during subsequent cycles of loading reached 10 K. The cycling test actually did not affect the stress-strain characteristics of the belts, so it can be concluded that the used belt structure ensures their safe application for various cyclic loadings.

The present work investigates the microstructural changes in an AISI 304L austenitic stainless steel during the early stages of tensile deformation (where austenite does not transform to strain induced martensite). In situ tensile experiments were conducted to record grain orientation changes and slip activation in the steel. The effect of grain size, neighboring grains, and annealing twins on orientation changes during deformation was investigated. Results showed that at a given strain level, grains lying in relatively softer regions and possessing higher Schmid factor values accommodated the plastic deformation initially and showed orientation changes toward the stable orientation. The relatively larger grains changed their orientations only at higher strain levels. Grain orientation changes were also influenced by size and crystallographic orientation of neighboring grains. For grains containing annealing twins, the orientation changes of twin and its grain were in different directions during deformation at a given strain level. Further, grains containing multiple twins showed delayed deformation. The study of tensile deformation behavior in this respect opens up new routes to alter and hence enhance the mechanical properties of materials by engineering their microstructure.

W pracy przeanalizowano wpływ zawartości wilgoci na zmianę cech wytrzymałościowych i charakter pękania polistyrenu (PS) i polimetakrylan metylu) (PMMA). Próbki badano w różnych warunkach środowiskowych (suszono, kondycjonowano w wodnych roztworach chlorku potasu (KCl) i chlorku sodu (NaCl). Odkształcalność polimerów określono na podstawie analizy krzywych wytrzymałościowych odkształcenie-naprężenie uzyskanych w próbie stycznego rozciągania. Ocenę charakteru pękania przeprowadzono na podstawie obserwacji mikroskopowych powierzchni przełomów. Stwierdzono, że wraz ze wzrostem wilgotności w PS i PMMA maleje naprężenie zrywające i wzrasta odkształcalność oraz moduł sprężystości Younga). SEM wskazuje na wyraźne obszary zwierciadlane.

In this work the influence of humidity on the deformation and fracture behavior chosen thermoplastics were investigated. Selected plastic were amorphous polystyrene (PS) and poly(methyl methacrylate) - PMMA. Samples were dried, conditioned in solutions of water with potassium chloride and sodium chloride. Drying process was going for over 70 hours in temperature 50°C, however samples immersed in diluted salts were there for over 72 hours. During analyzing of examines result compared were elongation at break, stress at break, Young modulus. The results showed that stress at break and Young modulus decreases with the increasing of water content and elongation at break increases.
