The occurrence and use of phraseologisms in technical languages is often the subject of scientific research. One analyzes phraseologisms whose use is typical for the respective language or diagnoses their use in technical texts. This also applies to the use of the so-called legal phraseologisms in legal technical language and their occurrence in legal technical texts. In phraseology research, the focus has so far been on the terminological aspects and the delimitation of legal phraseologisms from the other phraseological units. In Małgorzata Płomińska’s monograph “Juristische Fachphraseologie – zwischen Konvention und Routine”, published in 2019 by Peter Lang Verlag, one finds an exemplary connection between theory and practice. The author analyzes the occurrence and functions of legal phraseologisms in the German and Polish law books and creates a very successful analysis model. The research results achieved by Płomińska are the subject of the contribution. At the same time, the current state of research on legal linguistic specialist phraseology is discussed. The characteristics of the analysis results also make it possible to display certain desiderata in this research area. a lack of complex research into legal phraseology for both German and Polish, as well as of a comparative character.

The present paper discusses relations between meaning and context as an interactive process that promotes cognition and communication, both intralingual and interlingual. The article also studies two evident conflicting tendencies in the development of technical language: metaphorization and standardization. Metaphorical meaning extension is characteristic of technical vocabulary in all discourse domains. At the same time, contemporary development of corpus linguistics facilitates standardization of terms. Taking into account pragmatic aspects of the text environment, i.e. referential, situational, cultural and social contexts, language users can interpret the meaning of new terms, establish relations and interconnections between terms and concepts within a text, domain and entire scientific and technical discourse. In the present article, observations on the nature and application of contemporary technical terminology are made on the basis of extensive empirical research.

Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird die Computerfachsprache der russischen und polnischen EDV-Fachleute präsentiert. Im einführenden Teil wird die Computersprache definiert. Die Leitfrage dabei lautet: Wie stark beeinflussen die Anglizismen die russische und polnische Computerfachsprache? Das Ziel der wissenschaftlichen Analyse ist festzustellen, wie das Russische im Vergleich zum Polnischen mit Anglizismen aus der Computerfachsprache umgeht.

The central question of the article is: How strongly do the Anglicisms influence the Russian and Polish computer language? The aim of the analysis is to compare Russian and Polish with computer language anglicisms.

In the age of progressive globalization which blurs physical borders between the neighbouring states, the cultural interchange constitutes an integral part of international relations. The cultural content and values are representative for a given nation. The similarities of the cultural identity bring nations closer, while the opposites arouse their interest or are rejected. In order we could recognize cultural values that differ from the attitudes we accept, a director interactive cross-cultural education becomes indispensable, primarily intended to familiarize people with the cultural distinctness of members of a different cultural milieu, and to modify their negative attitudes toward the content that is other to them. Alongside a variety of activities aimed at cultural exchange and education, of particular importance is language being a vehicle of any conveyed information. If this information concerns human health and life, the cross-cultural education becomes an indispensable part of the international agreement and constitutes a basis of the care of the patients’ safety. The article discuses the activities undertaken within the project Interreg VA, aimed, among others, at a cross-cultural education in the Polish-German cross-border area.

W dobie postępującej globalizacji, zacierającej fizyczne granice pomiędzy państwami sąsiadującymi, wymiana kulturowa stanowi integralną część relacji międzynarodowych. Treści i wartości kulturowe są reprezentatywne dla danej nacji. Podobieństwa tożsamości kulturowej zbliżają, przeciwieństwa wzbudzają ciekawość lub zostają odrzucone. By wartości kulturowe odmienne dla naszej akceptacji postaw mogły zostać przez nas uznane, niezbędna staje się bezpośrednia lub interakcyjna edukacja międzykulturowa, której zadaniem jest przede wszystkim oswojenie z odrębnością kulturową przedstawicieli innego środowiska kulturowego oraz modyfikacja negatywnych postaw wobec treści dla nas innych. Obok różnorodnych aktywności mających na celu wymianę i edukację kulturową, bardzo ważne miejsce zajmuje język będący nośnikiem wszelkich informacji. Jeśli dotyczą one zdrowia i życia ludzkiego, edukacja międzykulturowa staje się niezbędną częścią porozumienia międzynarodowego i stanowi podstawę dbałości o bezpieczeństwo pacjentów. W artykule przedstawiono działania podjęte w ramach projektu Interreg VA, mające na celu m.in. edukację międzykulturową w polsko-niemieckim obszarze transgranicznym.

Podano przykłady niepoprawnych nazw i terminów fachowych, prowadzące do dwuznaczności i nieporozumień.

The paper presents considerations on proper professional terminology in water and sanitary engineering. Unfortunately, the professional Polish language is often encumbered by foreign words, especially those originated from German and English languages. Therefore, common efforts to use correct names and terms are indispensable to avoid misunderstanding.

Celem artykułu jest wykazanie szkodliwości przesadnego przywiązania do języka specjalistycznego w badaniach literackich. We wstępie zostaje zarysowany kontekst postawienia tezy. W następnej części przeprowadzona zostaje zwięzła prezentacja obecnej sytuacji studiów literaturoznawczych, to znaczy ich językowego „przespecjalizowania”. Dalej następuje krótki szkic historyczny, mający za zadanie unaocznić specyfikę i naturę tego, co nazywamy tutaj klasycznym modelem wypowiedzi naukowej, szkic obejmujący ramy czasowe od greckiej starożytności do czasów współczesnych i w sposób szczególny poświęcony uwydatnieniu roli, jaką w owym „klasycznym” dyskursie odgrywał i odgrywa język potoczny, żywy, „naturalny”. Wreszcie — próba sformułowania trzech argumentów uzasadniających wyższość modelu „klasycznego” nad „współczesnym” w badaniach literackich. Pracę wieńczą krótkie wnioski, w których próbuje się wykazać potencjalne korzyści praktyczne płynące z przyjęcia proponowanego w pracy stanowiska.

The aim of the article is to demonstrate the harmfulness of the excessive attachment to the specialist language in literary studies. The introduction outlines the context in which the thesis is formulated. The proceeding part consists of a short presentation of the current situation of the literary studies, namely their linguistic “overspecialization.” The yet proceeding one — of a short historical sketch of what is called here the classic mode of academic diction, ranging from the Greek Antique to contemporary times, with special stress falling upon the role which in this diction was and is given to the colloquial, living, “natural” language.” The third part is an attempt at formulating three theoretical arguments proving the superiority of this “classic” model over the contemporary one in the literary studies. The text closes with an attempt at outlining several practical advantages to be gained by accepting the attitude argued for in the text.

W artykule autorka omawia aktualizację i zmianę słownictwa we współczesnym języku białoruskim, kierując szczególną uwagę na ostatnie dziesięciolecie XX i pierwszą dekadę XXI wieku, które charakteryzują się znaczną ilością zapożyczeń z języków zachodnich. Analiza pokazała, że skrótowce, mimo że niezbadane i nieusystematyzowane, nazywają nowe zjawiska rzeczywistości i aktywnie funkcjonują w białoruskich technolektach.

In the article the author discusses updating and changes in modern Belarusian vocabulary paying special attention to the period of the last decade of the 20th century and the first decade of the 21st century, which is characterized by a significant amount of borrowings from Western languages. They nominate new phenomena of reality and function actively in Belarusian technical terminology. As the analysis shows they have not been examined and systematized yet.
