Turbine sets and generators account for much of the high integrity and safety critical components requiring regular inspection on power stations of all ages. The high cost of failure (both from lost generation, injury/loss of life and damage repair) demand that the highest quality component testing is employed. RWE npower constantly strive to provide the most comprehensrve and comenient inspections for our own power stations and for third party customers within Europe. Using over forty years of experience on inspecting coal, oil and gas plants from Parsons, Alsthom, GE and Siemens, we refine our rotating plant inspections using the latest available technology. Using a wealth of metallurgical and operational knowledge (base-loading and two-shifting) we customise the benefits of the latest NDE systems through our extensive experience of automated ultrasonics, TOFD, phased array and eddy current technologies. In this paper/presentation we will share our experience in the inspection of retaining rings, wedge bars, rotor discs and rotor bores including those inspected in Poland and other areas of Europe.
