For many years RasMol was one of the most used programs for molecular visualization. It was an excellent tool due to its simplicity and its low demand of computer power. Today it is replaced by OpenGL programs, which have excellent graphics that new computers can additionally handle. Molecular graphics is one of the best tools for the analysis of biomolecular data. With high efficiency and a low demand of computer power, RasMol can still be used as a quick and handy tool used for the analysis of biomolecular structures with good results. In this paper, we describe modifications to the RasMol program, as implemented on the base of RasMol AB 2. We introduced several new functions, namely: the identification of histidine isomers, and advanced structural selection and macro capabilities (as implemented in the point-click menu), which result in an increase in the speed and accuracy of structural analyses. The following paper presents behavior of untypical manufacturing room structure. The analysis was based on the detailed analytical model, which reflects the real character of structure behavior in current technical condition and load configuration. There were load capacity and serviceability limit states verified.

Content available remote Structure and mechanical properties of Mg-Si alloys at elevated temperatures

Purpose: of this paper is to extend a complex evaluation of magnesium alloys which requires very often knowledge of structure and mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. These properties are connected with microstructure that is influenced by metallurgical and technological factors and exploitation conditions. Presented knowledge expresses very important information for design and exploitation of these alloys. Design/methodology/approach: The optical and scanning electron microscopy methods were used for metallographic and fracture analyses of studied magnesium alloys after tensile test at elevated temperatures. Findings: Objective of this work consisted in determination of structure and mechanical properties progressive magnesium alloys at elevated temperatures. Research limitations/implications: Knowledge of alloys structure characteristics will be determined new research direction of scope. Practical implications: The results may be utilized for a relation between structure and properties of the investigated material in process of manufacturing. Originality/value: These results contribute to complex evaluation of magnesium alloys properties namely for explanation of structure developed new magnesium alloys. The results of this paper are determined for research workers deal by development new exploitations of magnesium alloys.

The paper presents the complex structure of the assembly and sports hall "Spodek" in Katowice. This edifice is founded on a site exposed to possible damages due to mining activities. Constructing this building, the so-called kinematic system of founding was applied, consisting in the upheaval of the spot footings checking the creeping of the soil, reducing in this way the effect of the curvature of the terrain on the deformation of the main foundation ring. Advanced procedures of calculations have been presented, which permitted to assess the actual effort of the most important carrying elements of the hall. The way of strengthening those elements, whose load-bearing capacity was insufficient, has been characterized.
