Command Post of the Future (CPOF) is an executive level decision support system that provides situational awareness and situational, understanding for the commander and his staff. The system can be tailored to fit specific visualizations and user’s needs across all war fighting functions and organizations from a corps to a battalion. It helps commanders and decision makers analyze information, share thoughts, and evaluate courses of action to provide not only situational awareness, but more importantly, situational understanding.

This article, based on documents located in the Archives of the Institute of National Remembrance (Archiwum Instytutu Pamięci Narodowej), presents the subsequent phases of negotiations and the process of building a command post codenamed „Albatros” at Sieraków Śląski near Częstochowa in the 1970s. The structure was to serve as the forward command post of the United Armed Forces of the Warsaw Pact, whose troops intended to conduct an offensive against the armies of NATO countries in the event of the outbreak of World War III. The command post was to be connected to the BARS No. 201 tropospheric communication system built as part of the project. The paper also describes the changes that were planned with regards to the expansion of the post in the second half of the 1980s.

In diesem Aufsatz werden die verschiedenen Phasen der Verhandlungen und des Baus eines Gefechtsstandes mit dem Codenamen „Albatros” in der Nähe von Sieraków Śląski bei Częstochowa in den 1970er Jahren dargestellt. Es war als vorgeschobener Gefechtsstand der vereinigten Streitkräfte des Warschauer Paktes geplant, deren Truppen im Falle des Ausbruchs des Dritten Weltkriegs eine Offensive gegen die Armeen der NATO-Staaten durchführen sollten. Der Gefechtsstand sollte an das im Rahmen des Projekts im Bau befindliche troposphärische Kommunikationssystem BARS Nr. 201 angeschlossen werden. Der Aufsatz beschreibt ferner die Änderungen, die im Zusammenhang mit dem Ausbau des Gefechtsstandes in der zweiten Hälfte der 1980er Jahre geplant waren. Der Aufsatz stützt sich auf die Materialien des Archivs des Instituts für Nationales Gedenken (Archiwum Instytutu Pamięci Narodowej).

Artykuł przedstawia kolejne fazy negocjacji i proces budowy stanowiska dowodzenia o kryptonimie „Albatros” w okolicach Sierakowa Śląskiego niedaleko Częstochowy w latach siedemdziesiątych XX w. W planach miało to być wysunięte stanowisko dowodzenia Zjednoczonych Sił Zbrojnych Układu Warszawskiego, których wojska zamierzały prowadzić ofensywę przeciwko armiom państw NATO w przypadku wybuchu III wojny światowej. Stanowisko dowodzenia miało być połączone z budowanym w ramach projektu systemem łączności troposferycznej BARS nr 201. W artykule ponadto opisano zmiany, jakie planowano przeprowadzić w związku z rozbudową stanowiska w drugiej połowie lat osiemdziesiątych. Artykuł powstał na podstawie archiwaliów znajdujących się w Archiwum Instytutu Pamięci Narodowej.
