To effectively suppress the violent galloping of the catenary additional wires in the strong wind section of high-speed railways, the anti-galloping effectiveness and anti-galloping mechanism of the spacer installed on the catenary additional wires are studied. Firstly, the finite element model of the additional wires of the catenary before and after the installation of the spacer is established. Secondly, the random wind field at the additional wires is simulated by the harmonic synthesis method (WAWS). Finally, the galloping response of the additional wires before and after the installation of the spacer is studied by using the finite element software. The results show that the installation of a single spacer at the midpoint of the span can reduce the vertical amplitude of the AF (Additional Feeder) and the PW (Protection Wire) by more than 39.80% and 41.51%, respectively, and the lateral amplitude decreases by more than 16.55% and 38.30%, respectively. The tension of the AF is greatly reduced, while the tension of the PW is slightly increased, so that the galloping of the AF and the PW tends to be synchronized. With the increase in the number of spacers installed, the anti-galloping effect continues to increase. At the same time, the anti-galloping mechanism of the spacer rod to suppress the vibration of the additional wires through the traction effect is clarified, and the effectiveness of the spacer rod in the anti-galloping of the additional wires of the catenary is proved.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a developmental disorder of motor, psychological and emotional functions. Its most typical symptom is a walking disorder. The aim of this study was to analyze children's walking abilities based on basic kinematic parameters. In this research, the analysis of a three-dimensional kinematical movement is used to record the right and left parts of the child's body. The walking skills of two CP children are described. For locomotion analysis, the angular displacements in the right and left knees and ankles and foot distortion in both support and swing phases of the walk were chosen. The kinematic parameters can be helpful in the diagnosis and allow physiotherapists to suggest what exercise program should be develop in order to improve the habit of walking.

In the paper a digital image processing algorithm useful for video-based analysis of power lines spacers' mechanical condition is proposed. For testing purposes the semi-synthetic images of some damaged typical spacers have been used but for the verification of the detection of spacers' location working properties the real images taken from the camera have been used. Presented method is based mainly on the geometrical features' extraction techniques and can be applied in the systems for the analysis of data acquired by e.g. aerial fly-by patrols.

W pracy zaproponowano algorytm cyfrowego przetwarzania obrazów użyteczny w analizie wideo uszkodzeń mechanicznych odstępników w liniach energetycznych. Do celów testowych zostały użyte półsyntetyczne obrazy uszkodzeń typowych odstępników, natomiast weryfikacja działania detekcji położenia odstępników została przeprowadzona w oparciu o obrazy rzeczywiste uzyskane z kamery. Proponowana metoda jest oparta głównie na technikach ekstrakcji cech geometrycznych i może być użyta w systemach automatycznej analizy danych uzyskiwanych np. podczas inspekcji lotniczych.

This essay offers an analysis of the countryside defined and perceived as an inhabited place but also as a landscape where the visual evolves into a multi-sensory experience. The text is divided into three sections corresponding to three dimensions of the landscape. The aesthetic dimension relates to the visual features of the landscape which determine its aesthetic sense. The participatory dimension comprises the cultural sense that encompasses the meanings inscribed in the landscape as well as the social and historical processes that make the taskspace with its patterns of dwelling activities. The third dimension, whose description is based on Józef Chełmoński’s painting Indian Summer, is represented by the embodied landscape defined by the polysensory features and tactility playing the primary role (the landscape can be ‘touched’). These three dimensions show how the relationship between humans and the landscape can change in two differing situations: when humans adopt a distanced attitude of viewers or that of participants who enter the landscape and shape it not only physically and symbolically, but also in the sensory dimension.
