Uszczelki od dawna nie spełniają wyłącznie roli, do której zostały pierwotnie wyznaczone. Współczesne pierścienie uszczelniające typu Simmerring mogą być wyposażone w cały szereg znakomitych dodatkowych funkcji. Pierścienie uszczelniające Simmerring przejmują obecnie funkcje sensorów, a nawet kontrolę działania maszyn. Dzięki wielofunkcyjnym pierścieniom uszczelniającym Simmerring następuje zmniejszenie integralnych zespołów konstrukcyjnych w jednym systemie. Konstrukcje, wytwarzanie, logistyka i konserwacja stają się bardziej proste i ekonomiczne.

The architecture of the six legged robot is described in this paper. Robot kinematics for single leg and for the multi-legged platform is presented. For the control of the robot equipped with a number of sensors a three-layer control system has been designed. It consists of a host computer (in the first, teleoperation layer), of a single master microprocessor on the robot board (second layer) and of six microprocessors each of them for one leg (third layer). The communication between the first and the second layer is performed in duplex mode through the RS232 link via the Bluetooth channel, and between the second and the third control layer through the SPI bus. The robot sensing system consists of rotary potentiometers in each joint, of the leg as well as of a dual-axis accelerometer and gyroscope for platform orientation control. On board camera for remote vision is available.

In this work, we introduce and examine the notion of domination for a class of linear distributed systems. This consists in studying the possibility to make a comparison between input or output operators. We give the main algebraic properties of such relations, as well as characterizations of exact and weak domination. We also study the case of actuators, and various situations are examined. Applications and illustrative examples are also given. By duality, we extend this study to observed systems. We obtain similar results and properties, and the case of sensors is equally examined.

The purpose of this short paper is to provide original results related to the choice of the number of sensors and their supports for general distributed parameter systems. We introduce the notion of extended sensors and we show that the observation error decreases when the support of a sensor is widened. We also show that the observation error decreases when the number of sensors increases.

The paper presents modular system for data logging, using the fuzzy sets theory. The microprocessor system configuration includes master module, slave modules and has ability for integration of orthogonal buses to the standard system bus of XT/AT IBM PC. The architecture of the master and slave modules and the communication between them are explained in details. The software is based on fuzzy theory, using triangle member ship functions and standard gravity method.

This paper focuses on viable position estimation schemes for timing belt drives where the position of the carriage (load) is to be calculated via reference models accepting input from a position sensor on the actuator of the timing belt. A detailied analysis on the source of transmission errors is presented a number of relevant mathematical modeis are developed utilizing a priori knowledge on the process. The paper illustrates that such schemes are very effective when the drive system is not subjected to external loads es well as widely changing operating conditions such as ambient temperature, belt tension.

In this work, we examine, through the observation of a class of linear distributed systems, the possibility of reducing the effect of disturbances (pollution, etc.), by making observations within a given margin of tolerance using a control term. This problem is called enlarged exact remediability. We show that with a convenient choice of input and output operators (actuators and sensors, respectively), the considered control problem has a unique optimal solution, which will be given. We also study the relationship between the notion of remediability, introduced in previous works, and that of enlarged exact remediability.

The purpose of this paper is to study the problem of regional detection, to characterize internal or boundary regionally detectable sources and regionally spy sensors, and to establish a relationship between these sensors and regionally strategic sensors. It is shown how to reconstruct a regionally detectable internal or a boundary source from a given output, with an extension to the case when the output is affected by an observation error. Numerical results are given in the case of a diffusion system.

It has been shown that machine tool thermal distortion can account for up to 70 per cent of the total machining error. As a result there has been a great deal of interest in techniques for minimising thermal errors influence on the accuracy of the workpiece. Usually the solutions based on the temperature measurement and neural networks are used for this purpose. However, due to the complexity of the thermal distortions' phenomenon, long time constant and the diversification of the machining cycles the mentioned solution is not fully satisfying. There is an urgent need for direct measurement of thermal distortions during operation of the machine tool. The paper presents the idea of simple direct measurement and displacement sensors that are used for monitoring of the NC lathe thermal distortions.

In this paper we show how to find convenient boundary actuators, termed boundary efficient actuators, ensuring finite-time space compensation of any boundary disturbance. This is the so-called remediability problem. Then we study the relationship between this remediability notion and controllability by boundary actuators, and hence the relationship between boundary strategic and boundary efficient actuators. We also determine the set of boundary remediable disturbances, and for a boundary disturbance, we give the optimal control ensuring its compensation.

This study presents the results of the design and characterization of a gas sensor with PMMA/CNTs chemiresistor as sensing element for detection of organic vapors. Multi wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) produced at our lab (by method of pyrolysis, outer diameter d=10÷40 nm, purity ≈94%) were incorporated into biocompatible polymer matrix. Poly(methyl methacrylate) - PMMA - and nanocomposite films were obtained using casting solution technique. Produced nanocomposite films were investigated with thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared, while the sensors activity was determined by the changes in electrical resistance of the nanocomposite films due to acetone and chloroform exposure. The response to these vapors was evaluated and it was shown that PMMA/MWCNTs composites exhibit changes in electroresistivity. Sensitivity was calculated to be in 0.58-54.6 range (30 min exposed to acetone) and 0.53-10.35 (30 min exposed to chloroform). The results presented in this paper show that CNTs are able to improve the overall performances of polymer based sensors.

The coupling coefficient of fused biconical taper single-mode coupler can vary from 0% to almost 100% by changing the refractive index of the surrounding media. From the data obtained the coupling mechanism cannot be attributed to power transfer between the modal fields guided by the fiber cores in the taper waist region. The results support the model of the coupling mechanism between modes guided by a glass core and an external refractive index.

The products resulted from development of a fire source have been characterized in the paper. The most useful sensors for detection of the fires have been selected. A block structure and idea of a construction of a multi-sensor device have been presented. The functions of that device and the signal processing have been described taking especially into account increase in sensibility and elimination of false alarms. The main reasons of the fires in belt conveyors have been shown on the basis of research work in many countries. Allowing for construction of conveyors and their installation in galleries with air flow, the location of sensors has been analysed for the best detection of fires. The developed construction of the multi-sensor device, the tests and analyses will be the basis of development of a system for early detection of fires in belt conveyors.
