In the article can be found an explanation what the “Warrior of the Light” metaphor means in the modern world. This figure can often be seen in anyone, who cares about security culture. The value of security culture has grow enormously in the time, when the crisis of all the values began. The author wants to concentrate on the Far East aspects of security culture, which gained in the twentieth century high acceptance also in the western cultural tradition. Of a great importance were here Martial Arts with its numerous Far Eastern varieties, which gives opportunity not only for great physical development, but above all, have a great influence on the human psyche. For this reason, one of the main issues of this work is to understand what “The Way” (jap. dō) really is. It is considered to be a method of human self-realization based on the domain of Martial Arts. Helpful in this task will be to examine how this method was seen by the creators of contemporary Budō, Funakoshi Gichin (living and working in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century), and Ōyama Masutatsu (living in the mid-twentieth century). The author focuses also on the history and philosophy of Budō, which aims for spirituality of martial arts, going back to Indo-European original source.

Contemporary world is distinguished by complex phenomena which have significant influence on an individual and social groups lives. Specificity of the reality called late modernity, radical modernity, fluid modernity and its detailed determinants are the basis for the statement that long-lasting basis for actions and choices of an individual are replaced by temporary and undermined criteria. According to numerous examples social transformations in many societies, on the one hand create extended opportunities for new challenges and chances and on the other hand they determine the necessity to put new questions regarding aims of action, criteria of value selection, preferences and aspirations of various social groups representatives. These issues refer also to the field of education with its all subjects.
W artykule zaprezentowano dwa pojęcia, które razem nie występują często: przywództwo i społeczną odpowiedzialność biznesu (CSR). CSR wymusza unikalny sposób myślenia o biznesie, który oznacza odpowiedzialność wobec wszystkich interesariuszy w perspektywie długookresowej. Jest to idea, która stawia nowe wyzwania przed przywódcami. Przede wszystkim wymusza na nich odpowiedzialność – za siebie, pracowników, organizację i otoczenie. Artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie czego koncepcja CSR wymaga od liderów. Dokonano tu przeglądu najważniejszych definicji przywództwa. Podjęto też próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy współcześni menedżerowie odpowiedzialnie podchodzą do rozwoju swoich kompetencji przywódczych i dlaczego jest to tak ważne. Do osiągniecia celów badawczych wykorzystano wyniki badań ankietowych oraz wywiadów z pracownikami Regionalnych Ośrodków Pomocy Społecznej, działających na Śląsku.

The article presents two concepts that do not occur often together: leadership and corporate social responsibility (CSR). CSR enforces a unique way of thinking about business, that means accountability to all stakeholders in the long term. It is an idea which presents new challenges for leaders. First of all, requires them to take responsibility – for themselves, employees, organization and the environment. The article is an attempt to answer the question of what CSR requires from leaders. There is a review here of the most important definitions of leadership. It is also an attempt to answer the question of whether modern managers have a responsible approach to development of their leadership competencies and why it is so important. To achieve the research objectives the paper is based on the results of surveys and interviews with employees of the Regional Social Assistance Centres operating in Silesia.
The article analyzes the development of competency-based professional training standards and their implementation into educational process in foreign countries. It determines that the main idea of competency-based approach is competency-and-active learning, which aims at complex acquirement of diverse skills and ways of practice activities via mastering respective competences. The article states that competency is the product of competence due to which a person successfully realizes themselves in different spheres of their professional engagement, gains social independence and becomes mobile and qualified. The article also dwells on the international experience of professional and training standards development, it analyses specific internal national, as well as external all-European and worldwide conceptions of professional and training standards development, conceptual foundations of competency-based approach in national higher education within the framework of global information society formation. It highlights specific aspects of standards development based on activity-oriented technologies and professional competence assessment. The article states that within the framework of competency-based teaching and training, quality-assuring actions have to ensure the correspondence of standards and learning outcomes. It informs that the labour market is represented by employers, trade unions and the government. The article explores the fact that in Russia, Ukraine and many other countries the employers and the trade unions do not collaborate to formulate their needs with regard to professional training standards, that is why the government and its administration bodies have to do the task of predicting labour market needs on their own.
W artykule tym autor próbuje przybliżyć zagadnienia konieczne do zrozumienia tego, czym jest samodoskonalenie. Prowadzone tu analizy mają na celu wykazać ewentualną możliwość lokowania rozważań nad samodoskonaleniem w prakseologii – czyli nauce o sprawnym i skutecznym działaniu.
