W artykule zaprezentowano stan badań oraz perspektywy badawcze w zakresie źródeł do badań kultury czytelniczej zarówno w aspekcie historycznym, jak i współczesnym. Sprecyzowano pojęcie kultury czytelniczej w ujęciu jednostkowym i społecznym, a także określono zakres źródeł do jej badania. Wskazano na komponenty kultury czytelniczej i odpowiadające im źródła – szeroko rozumiane dokumenty recepcji – znaki proweniencyjne, materiały autobiograficzne, literaturę piękną i sztukę, listy prenumeratorów, akta notarialne, inwentarze, katalogi, dokumentację instytucji oświatowych, prasę, dyrektywy i instrukcje. Omówiono zależności „starych źródeł” od „nowych źródeł”, wskazując szczegółowe obszary refleksji naukowej w tym temacie.

The article presents the state of research as well as the research perspectives with reference to the research sources in reading culture in terms of the past and the present. It determines the reading culture definition taking the individuals and the society into consideration. It shows the components of reading culture and corresponding sources – widely understood the reception documents – provenance marks, autobiographical materials, literature and art, subscriber lists, notarial files, inventories, catalogs, documentation of educational institutions, press, directives and instructions. There have been revealed the dependencies between “the old” and “the new” sources, pointing the detailed areas of scientific researches.
