Opracowano metodę rejestracji obrazu przepływu cieczy oraz program komputerowy pozwalający wyznaczać pola prędkości metodą korelacji obrazów. Przeprowadzono przykładowe pomiary opływu tarczy umieszczonej w osi rury. Dla zarejestrowanych obrazów przepływu wyznaczono pola prędkości i tory cząstek. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników opracowano wnioski, które pozwolą wykorzystać opracowane oprogramowanie oraz metodę rejestracji obrazu przepływu do wizualizacji ruchu zawiesiny kryształów.

A method to record flow images and a computer program to determine velocity distribution by image correlation were developed. For the test example of flow near a plate placed inside a cylindrical channel, velocity distribution and particle trajectories were determined. Conclusions were drawn regarding the application of newly developed tools to the visualisation of flows of crystal suspensions.

The analysis of image time series requires a correlation of the information between two images. The gradient flow registration is a method for correlating this information by successively minimizing an appropriate energy along its gradient A graphics hardware implementation of this approach to image registration is presented. The gradient flow formulation makes use of a robust multi-scale regularization, an efficient multi-grid solver and an effective time-step control. The locality of the involved operations implies a data-flow which is very well suited for an acceleration in the streaming architecture of the DX9 graphics hardware. Therefore, the implementation obtains registration results at very high performance, registering two 2562 in less than 2 seconds, such that it could be used as an interactive tool in medical image analysis.

Applications of image registration in parametric imaging are investigated. The manual and automatic image registration methods have been used for image to image registration in sequences to correct movement artefacts in reconstructed parametric objects. Additionally the registration methods were used for multimodal visualisation of structural and parametric objects. The achieved results proved that the automatic image to image registration, for motion mechanisms correction, in the parametric model improves the quality of images. The multimodal visualisation of structural MRI images and parametric DSC-MRI images, enables to correlate the local dynamic changes with all morphological features.

Parametric imaging is more and more popular in dynamic brain studies. It enables to quantitatively or semi-quantitatively estimate physiological state and processes in brain. Parametric images represent spatial distribution of parameter values calculated for chosen mathematical model of the process or object. This work compares different methods of geometrical transformations for image registration and normalization. Appropriate method for image registration and normalization (in reference to atlases) is extremely important for common visualization of structural and parametric images in MRI and PET studies. Rigid and elastic geometrical transformations are implemented and compared. Additionally Delaunay triangulation and image morphing methods are used. Manual and proposed automatic registration and normalization methods are presented and compared based on MRI/PET and Talairach atlas images. Concluding, the proposed automatic image normalization method is accurate and using the combination of Delaunay and morphing methods can produce even better results.

Quality assessment in external beam radiotherapy necessitates for an efficient and robust tool for comparing the planned and realised geometry of the treatment. Such a tool using the modified Hausdorff distance measure has been developed and successfully introduced to clinical practice. The majority of steps of the method are automatic. The user specifies the share of edge data extracted from the images to be used in calculations, not before, but after these calculations are actually performed. Thus, the results of the choice can be seen immediately. This mechanism makes the method extremely robust against partially erroneous or missing data.

This paper presents a method for automatic lip traces recognition based on lip furrows arrangement. First, lip trace is scanned and subjected to image processing and feature extraction. Then, identification is performed by comparing lip trace characteristics with a collection of comparative lip prints characteristics stored in a database. The proposed solution gives a satisfactory level of identification accuracy. After further improvement, it can be used as part of a system performing analysis of traces recovered from crime scenes.

W artykule przedstawiono autorskie rozwiązania problemu wykonywania zdjęć niewyraźnych tekstów na opakowaniach i niewielkich produktach. W sytuacji gdy napis posiada niską rozdzielczość (drukarka atramentowa), albo jest wykonany poprzez technikę tłoczenia, wykonanie zwykłego, pojedynczego zdjęcia daje przeważnie niezadowalające wyniki. Dzięki przedstawionym tu rozwiązaniom, znacząco polepszamy materiał wejściowy (fotografie), który jest podstawą, na przykład do analizy przez algorytmy uczenia maszynowego, dedykowanych do rozpoznawania znaków (OCR).

The article presents proprietary solutions to the problem of taking pictures of blurred texts on packaging and small products. In a situation where the inscription has a low resolution (inkjet printer) or is made by embossing, taking a simple, single photo usually gives unsatisfactory results. Thanks to the presented here solutions, we significantly improve the input material (photos), which is the basis, for example for analysis by machine learning algorithms, dedicated to character recognition (OCR).

In this paper we present a project developed in our University in order to provide Lublin hospitals with efficient software tools for 3D medical image processing and transmission. The system covers the entire image flowpath in the Diagnostic Radiology Department (i.e. image acquisition, processing, archiving, long term storage) and allows transmission of medical images through the Metropolitan Area Network. About 22000 CT examinations have been archived using our system. Over 300 special examinations for radiotherapy planning have been sent to the Lublin's Oncology Centre.
