Different types of machinesets for direct sowing were presented in this paper. On the basis of literature data the performance of disk and wedge coulters was analyzed depending on sowing depth, operating speed of the drill and amount of crop residues in the field. The forces acting on disk and wedge coulter pending sowing were determined. It was shown that the correctness of direct sowing at large amounts of straw in the field depends on the straw spreaders operation. Now, the sowing coulters or disk coulters (in many cases) introduce the crop residues into the sowing area, what significantly limits the emergence of plants.
