Inasmuch as Polish readers can be familiar with the name of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, he is hardly ever associated with Galicia. However, among the author’s works one can find texts related to that region of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. An important problem in the Polish-language research on Sacher-Masoch’s work is the absence of that motif, which is surprising especially in the context of the popularity of studies of Galicia itself. This and other issues connected with the reception of the author’s work by the Poles, are the subject of this article.
