The article is devoted to the conceptualization of the senses by Jerzy Pilch included in the interpretation framework of each of them. Thanks to the research, one can see how the hierarchy of the author’s perceptions is presented and which ranges dominate in them. The material comes from Jerzy Pilch’s two early novels Spis cudzołożnic [List of adulteers] (1993) and Inne rozkosze [Other pleasures] (1995) and the last two Zuza albo czas oddalenia [Zuza or the time of distance] (2015) and Portret młodej wenecjanki [Portrait of a young Venetian woman] (2017). On this basis, we can see a crosssectional image emerging from all material. It is also possible to capture the differences between the older and newer parts of the artist’s output.

Artykuł jest poświęcony konceptualizacji zmysłów przez Jerzego Pilcha ujętych w ramy interpretacyjne każdego z nich. Dzięki badaniu można dostrzec, jak przedstawia się hierarchia postrzeżeń autora oraz które zakresy w nich dominują. Materiał pochodzi z dwóch wczesnych powieści Jerzego Pilcha Spisu cudzołożnic (1993), Innych rozkoszy (1995) oraz ostatnich Zuza albo czas oddalenia (2015) i Portret młodej wenecjanki (2017). Na tej podstawie uzyskuje się obraz przekrojowy wyłaniający się z całości przeprowadzonej próby oraz możliwe jest wychwycenie różnic pomiędzy starszą i nowszą częścią dorobku artysty.

In the linguistic picture of a path, which constitutes one of the elements adding up to the picture of the world created in “Armia’s” lyrics , a prototypical path, comprehended literally, leads to the abstract concept of the metaphor LIFE / DEATH IS A PATH. Not only is this particular metaphor constructed by the domain of space, but also by the domain of time (path - space-time continuum) since covering any distance consumes time, and life itself reflects existence in time. In this picture, life is a kind of path leading to death. This path strictly depends on man – a wanderer who, firstly, chooses a certain direction and, then acts according to the stipulated conditions. There are two types of path: a straight path, which imposes an upright way of behaviour, and a winding path – the antithesis of the former one. The choice of a proper path is troublesome and hence life understood as a constant struggle seems to be justified. It is only God who can lead the human being out of the path marked by sin. Therefore, the conceptual metaphor LIFE / DEATH IS A PATH may be analysed in the perspective of Christianity.

Celem niniejszego artykułu nie jest omówienie poszczególnych teorii dotyczących badań nad framingiem, lecz analiza fenomenu framingu z perspektywy lingwistycznej. Rama interpretacyjna jest interesująca jako fenomen językowy, który jest rezultatem działania językowego oraz ze względu na to, jaki wpływ ma lub ewentualnie może mieć właśnie poprzez swoją specyficzną formę językową na adresata danego działania językowego. W centrum zainteresowania badania empirycznego leżącego u podstawy niniejszego artykułu podejmującego temat dyskursu dotyczącego problemu migracji znajduje się rama interpretacyjna oraz pytania, za pomocą jakich środków leksykalnych jest realizowana i jakie reakcje to celowe używanie słów może wywołać u odbiorców. Teoretyczne rozważania uzasadnione są opisem wyników przeprowadzonej analizy korpusu badawczego będącego podstawą do napisania niniejszego artykułu.

The aim of the present article is, rather than discussing individual theories of framing, an analysis of the phenomenon from the point of view of linguistics. Interpretative frame is interesting as a linguistic phenomenon resulting from linguistic activity and also because of the influence it has or can have on the addressee of the given linguistic activity, precisely due to its specific linguistic form. The empirical research on which this article is based (and which is connected with the discourse on migration-related problems) focuses on the interpretative frame, the lexical means employed to establish the frame, and the reactions that deliberate wording can evoke among the receivers. The theoretical reflections are justified by the description of the results of analysing the relevant research corpus.
