In 2008 about 3.7 mln enterprises were registered in Poland and the majority of them was one-person firms. This boom lets us to reflect on the entrepreneurship of Poles. Those issues have been the matter of interest of many practitioners and theorists of economics as well as of the society. A common understanding of this term is usually connected with creativity, determination, domination, communication skills or risk taking. Polish society is very specific, because its mentality was greatly shaped by the history of the country. Fortunately, the passivity learned during the communism is more and more often replaced with enterprising attitudes. It is especially visible among young people, which is proven by the author's research. The results reveal the about 74% of WNEiZ UMK-students are willing to establish their own business.

The Internet market is open to all ideas and hence we should take advantage thereof. The number of internet shops has increased by 100% against the numbers from last year. The number of buyers has increased as well. Thanks to the World Wide Web, e-mails and communicators, entrepreneurs have a chance to communicate with clients on a global scale. It was merely not so long ago in 1977, when Ken Olson, the president and founder of the Digital Equipment Corp. Company stated, there is no reason as to why anyone should want to have a computer at home”. Today, most businesses, including most of us cannot imagine a life without a computer or the Internet that in the age of advanced technology has become a common work tool. The work above presents the history of the Internet and the most important elements which have influenced its development and without which the virtual world would not have existed. The thesis will present an in-depth look at the Internet’s range and capacity, possibilities it creates, and also challenges the safety features Internet consumers face. Additionally it will provide explanations of the most important definitions used in the world of e-business.

The main thesis of the article is connected with the constant attempts to the implementationa new educational system in Poland. Some new opportunities have occurred since Polandentered the European Union as we can now make use of other countries experience in thereforming area. Nowadays we are dealing with a new term in Poland i.e. lifelong learning. According to the author such a view on the education has its roots in constant changes in Polishsociety and economy. Open trade economy has influenced Polish scholar system the trainees students are focused on being successful on the market, especially on the job market. Traditional educational system in Poland was enriched by elements of entrepreneurship. The authordescribes Polish education as an investment, which is a condition of economic, scientific andsocial development. Constant or lifelong learning is therefore described as a social and economic phenomenon.

Increasingly intensified processes of globalization and the connected processes of European integration create new challenges for particular individuals and societies, and also business entities and institutions that are present in various scales of spatial systems. They refer to the rules of progressing process of concentration of capital (business activity) which results in the emergence of larger and larger global corporations. Their activities intensify polarization of global, European, national or regional social, economic and cultural space, and to some extent they lead to their standardization. That is why aspiring to learn complex regularities of changes that happen both in companies, and in particular spatial systems is so crucial during the process of development managing. Thus, it is advised to remember that problems concerning development of businesses, which refer both to the way of managing an enterprise as well as to spatial systems, are of great importance and they are part of current research subjects in the area of theoretical inquiries and within the scope of development of empirical analyses. They lead to more precise cognition of mechanisms and determinants, which in domestic conditions should be used to activate society within the range of developing resourcefulness. A model, which can serve as a pattern to conduct analyses and construct strategies of development of particular categories of companies and their surroundings, with attention paid to the impact of such features as: institutions and members of the EU, markets, economic policy and potential alternatives concerning behaviour of decision-makers of any kind, was proposed in this paper.

The article presents examples of activities and enterprising attitudes researched by the author in the field of the enterprise in the improvement of the road safety. There are also presented the examples of enterprising activities of many institutions interested in this matter - from government-institutions, including the Department of the National Education, the Department of Transport and Building, the National Council of Traffic Safety, provincial Centres of Road Traffic, the Police and schools, to the over government institutions like European Parliament and Council and private driving schools. The author presents the system of education about traffic safety - puts emphasis on activities of the driving schools - as an example of enterprising activities. The article gives examples of protecting pedestrians in road accidents. The article compares also the chosen indicators concerning traffic accidents in Poland and in chosen countries of the European Union in years 2000-2004.

The introduction of the rules of free market economy caused changes in the structure of the economy. Unemployment grew on new job market. Private sector appeared in economy. There are favorable conditions for the development of entrepreneurship and self-employment. An important part of people in productive age has the advantage of such a situation. One of the goals of this elaboration is to analyze what matters influence over the development of the enterprise. Total Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA) indicator help us to estimate the development of the enterprise. It measures general activity of economic undertakings. Thanks to it we can evaluate the general enterprise in Poland and compare it to the enterprise in 37 other states in the world. The enterprise is a social phenomenon. Behind every decision about starting the firm . to create new product or service, or to use new technology . always stands a man. Social structure of people who form the firms in Poland and over the world is worth to analyze. Such a research was conducted in 37 countries from GEM project. According to GEM results the enterprise in Poland is based on the lack of other ways to work. It is the key to economic development, to limitation of the unemployment, to modernization of society and to height of the welfare.

The goal of this article is to take into consideration a problem of entrepreneurship among men and women. In author’s opinion this problem is unilaterally overused as an element of economical struggle and that is why it is harmful for activities of both parties. Author notes that the work of many politicians and women’s organizations impedes a natural entrepreneurship development, which takes into account all the conditions related to how the individuals function in the society. Excessive interference in customs, some legislation in Labor Law, breaking the rules of free market, all of them cause the lost of a natural competitiveness, restrictions on freedom of choice and tendencies to excessive control. Author highlights that more freedom in economic, social and political life, less detailed regulations, state interferences and short-term politics mean better conditions for the entrepreneurship development of both genders - in forms appropriate for men and women - more social justice and better protection for our property.
