Presented are the results of tests of twist in cotton, viscose, wool, and bast-fiber (flax, hemp, jute) test yarns. The following methods were used: untwisting to parallel", "direct counting" and "reverse twistling". The first two methods were used for determining the real twist. The values of real twist served as a basis for determining the values of optium pre-tension in the reverse twisting tests. It was estabished that using optium pretension the reverse twisting method gave the same values of twist as the "untwisting-to-parallel" and "direct counting" methods.

Were presented effects of examinations of the expert estimation spliced joints of the ends of worsted woolen yarns. To the estimation of non-measurable properties of spliced joints of yarn ends were offered the expert method of estimation of splicing form of fibers in the joint. With regard to impossibility of measurement of the form of splicing fibers in the joint, the connections were judging by means of patterns.

Pneumatic interlacing is presently applied only to filament yarns. Research work carried out at Textile Research Institute in Lodz covers the technology of pneumatic interlacing of yarns with staple yarns contribution and research on the structure and properties of new yarns in relation to parameters of pneumatic interlacing process. This publication presents: results of studies on the effects of selected technological factors in the formation of mechanical parameters of component yarns, formed by innovative, highly efficient air interlacing technology, and the outline of the relations between the structure of yarn formed in air interlacing process (carried out at changing parameters of the technological process), and the level of analized mechanical parameters of the new yarns generation.

Introduce the principles of the work of pneumatic splicing devices joining the broken ends of the yarn during the winding process and the effort of the explanation of phenomena drawing ahead during the case itself of splicing was undertaken. Undertaken subject matter brought more closer on the basis of the analysis of the literature of the object and considerations of the authors of the article.

The newest and long anticipated option of the USTER tester 5 S800 apparatus set was presented. This option allows obtaining the virtual image of the textile product on the basis of measurements of the unevenness, numbers of faults, hairiness and optical diameter of the yarns. They stated that thanks to this new option of the UT5 set it was even possible to design appearance of the fabric or knitwear on the basis of the estimation of the quality of the yarn, unnecessarily for its of producing in industry conditions.

In the European and worldwide textile industry there is a tendency to increase quality and functionality of textiles. Mainly, it concerns special use textiles that are used for protection against infections and threats result from different factors - biological, physical, chemical mechanical and, particularly the most dangerous, factors that have negative impact on people and products. In the article, there are presented results of research on studies on new textile materials with using modified yarns. The authors focused on studies on yarns to give them protective features against static current and high temperatures. As the result of research, the new technology for knitwear was created. The new technology combines protective features against environmental threats with good physiological virtues. Because of character of new knitwear, they are intended to produce summer wear and underwear used as part of protective clothing.
