The phenomenon of information asymmetry between the supplier and the client in IT projects based on outsourcing is an important issue that affects the entire life cycle of an IT project. Information asymmetry is an inherent feature of transactions in the IT market, which should be considered while analysing IT project success. The aim of this article is to summarise my research concerning information asymmetry in IT projects. The conclusions may be interesting both for practitioners and theorists of business informatics.

The most important dimensions in software project estimation are: development effort and software quality. Several predictive models have been proposed for these dimensions. Although some of these models provide useful input for decision makers, most of them arc inherently limited for industrial use. The aims of this study are to: (1) compare existing applications of methods and (2) select a best technique for building intelligent and practical models for development effort and software quality prediction. In recent years various techniques were used, which are based on statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence and similar. Authors who used a single technique often report a success their studies, only sometimes additionally noticing threats in repeatability of their predictions in other environments. Other authors compare the accuracy of predictions obtained using different techniques. The main problem in these analyses is the lack of straightforward confirmation of the usefulness of specific techniques in building predictive models. When one author finds that one technique performs the best in their study, another author obtains the best predictions using a different technique. Bayesian nets (BNs) appear to be the best suited approach to build predictive intelligent and practical model. This paper summarizes some applications of BNs in modelling different aspects of software engineering and discusses proposed Productivity Model for analysing trade-offs between effort, size and software quality.

Organizational culture and identity are closely linked to the management. In IT, during implementations of advanced systems, soft and not measurable factors, as organizational identity and culture, are not always taken into consideration. In this article the organizational identity is described as one of the key success factors for the advanced IT projects. This article takes issue with the approach to the management of IT projects based solely on measurable variables, such as cost-functionality-time. The author refers to the case studies in which the organizational culture and identity had a significant impact on the results of IT projects.

The research results presented here refer to the issues linked to the role of information technologies in enterprise value building models that can be found in the current economic structure. The scope of this article is to present an analysis of the data collected in an annual research cycle and the resulting conclusions, describing management support IT projects in three groups of enterprises, representing three models of enterprise value analysis, i.e. the value chain, the value shop and the value network. The essence of the research is to present a distribution of management support IT systems, the size of the projects, chosen application implementation strategies and the method of IT project investment economic evaluation in specific enterprise groups.

The aim of this paper is to disseminate experimental findings, in the form of good practices, related to managing IT projects in diverse economic sectors. The best practices described here are based on rich industrial experience of the Author and as such are good supplement to the existing theoretical studies in the domain of Project Management.

Celem artykułu jest upowszechnienie wyników, w formie zbioru dobrych praktyk, uzyskanych w czasie realizacji projektów IT w różnych sektorach gospodarki. Zaproponowane najlepsze praktyki sformułowano na podstawie bogatego doświadczenia przemysłowego autorki; są one dobrym uzupełnieniem teorii zarządzania projektami.
