The review of the implementation of the drinking water guality improvement programme for Rzeszów city has been made. At the beginning the historical outline of the development of the water supply system in Rzeszów has been given. Modernisation of the water treatment technological processes has been shown in details. The rules of operation and design parameters of the new water treatment processes have been presented, that is the preliminary and the secondary ozonization with the filtration trough the filters with the granulated active carbon. The protection system against a bad quality water, in a source - the warning station - as for the treated water-local monitoring - has been characterised.
