Aircraft flight data recorders should protect a recorded data even in a critical situation, when recorders are exposed to different force. The task of a flight recorder's case is to protect a recorded data. Such case is examined due to normative procedures. This paper presents a conversion of an airborne case testing procedure for resistance to high temperature heat flux into a research testing of polymeric composite thermo resistance. The exam stand verifies the assumptions of experiments and many tests of various bars were conducted (different number of plies, different components). Findings allow assessing main ablation properties of material such as back wall temperature and ablation rate.
