Próba umiejscowienia współczesnych systemów zarządzania względem światowej koncepcji (strategii) zrównoważonego rozwoju.

The article deals with the concept of sustainable development and the forms of its implementation. In particular, it discusses the role and capabilities of businesses in this respect. The author points out the primary importance of the standards of environmental management (ISO series 14000 and EMAS), standards of occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001 and PN-N 18001), standards referring to social accountability of business (SA 8000 and AA 1000), as well as the Global Compact initiative. Still, all those systems focus on achieving their own objectives, wuth poor or even negative correlation between them. There is no recognised pattern or standard for a single integrated system of management that would guarantee balancing of economic, social and natural capital.
